I have been lurking here awhile now having tried Adwords for the first time about 2 Months ago.

To enter PPC as an absolute novice as I was, I made sure I read as many guides as I could mainly ebooks freely available on the web if you look hard enough. I also found custardmites guide from his sig line extremely useful and well written. Clearly it will take a novice some months to get to grips with the more complicated functions within adwords but I feel I am learning something all the time.

I am self taught as regards web design etc having been using pc's since windows 3.1 days although as I am sure everyone will agree there is always room to learn new things.

Over the last few weeks I have spent around £130 on PPC with a sales return of over £5000. Now I haven't got to grips with Analytics or indeed conversion tracking so I don't know how these figures fare in the general run of things although of course had I not used Adwords and gone for other means of advertising the return per spend may not have been so attractive. I concentrated my earliest efforts on keywords and cutting out the non performing ones as per the standard advice and took on board the need for continual tweaking and optimising with keyword bid figures ect. I also feature the keywords I use in my ad text and on my landing page as much as I can but feel it is now time to turn to my landing page to improve it.

I operate a small business and personally designed my own website. It currently does not have a Privacy Policy within it. Will I be able to improve my quality score by adding this and is it simple enough for it to be linked from the landing page?

Any comments or indeed constructive criticism always welcome.

I wonder if a site gets hammered for not having a privacy policy if it's information only (and doesn't ever ask you for any information)...

Thats just it my site asks potential customers to email certain requirements so I can contact them. This will include name address telephone and email.

Seems I have answered my own question and I have added the Privacy Policy to my to do list for later today.

I wonder if you would be in contravention of UK Data Protection Legislation if you did not have one? Mind you that focuses mainly on the safekeeping of the information not harvesting it.

Not if you don't take their details! If you don't ask people for information, then do you really need a privacy policy?

EDIT: Scratch that - if you are monitoring what people do on your site, and have their IP address, you probably still need one...
