One debate that has been a hot topic for conversation over a coffee, is the effectiveness of printed and digital marketing material. Of course, both methods have their advantages and disadvantages, but which one is more effective? Having worked on printed material for many years, I am in love with this method. I love the feel, the texture and the smell of printed material, it has more importance to me then an email or newsletter simply because it has a presence, and it's a lot harder to throw away than an email. If you're like me, a beautifully designed advert Becomes a keepsake, unlike an email which ultimately ends up in the trash can! What do you think ? What are your opinions on this subject?
I say if you are planning to get a local audience, then the best choice is to do printed material but if you have an online business and you want your audience to be from anywhere, then go for digital. But it will be much harder to reach people by digital material
It really depends on where the target market actually is but I tend to agree. I much prefer working on collateral stuff rather than web graphics usually. Nigel
Thanks for the replies! Great to hear your views! I agree with you shemseddine, if you want to target globally digital is far better but locally printed material is better at reaching your target audience! Nigel, I'm so glad you agree! So many people I speak to prefer digital, but I just love printed collateral! It's so tactile and you can create some beautiful and effective designs with physical mediums such as plastic and foam and the obvious one ... Paper! Thanks so much for your reply!
I know several people in the print industry and they all say it just isn't what it used to be. Online digits material has been gaining popularity. The reach you can get with digital is much larger than printed and also it's typically much cheaper.
Yeah definitely , print is so much more expensive ChrisBa, but I prefer having something in my hand, something tactile and something to keep! If you're wanting to reach a mass market, online is fantastic! But reaching a smaller audience print is more personal and creative in my opinion!
