Well the 'Pakis' seem quite vocal about the racial slur, since they are the experts, I'll go with them.

Racial slurs do not come from people who are not racist, they would not even consider using the term at all, in fact it would not enter their mind.

If it's not a racial slur maybe if you ever get a taxi & the driver is from 'pakistan' you could say 'Thank you my paki friend, we made it on time';)

    Correct.

    UK

The richest welfare recipients in the world & they are not parasitic?

Actually I suspect your offended on behalf of the queen, I don't think she gives a damn about you though & doubt that she would be offended that you are offended:D

You made the claim that the British are typically racist. By the way, are you really talking about British people, or is it only white people you have a beef with?

My advice is if you are going to pretend to be outraged over what Harry said try to keep your own bigotry to a minimum, You'll only end up looking like a hypocrite.

nobody did say that, you have just made it up. Like the rest of this storm in a teacup it exists only inside your head.

As for him being derogatory, I would say it was actually quite affectionate. They are obviously very good friends and very close, and i frankly think it's a bit rich for you to be offended on this guys behalf.

Racism is not in the words as many seem to think. It's more in the mind and intentions of the person using the word.

Would someone mind being called a racist term by a drunk friend who is very helpful otherwise?

What is so "lol" about that, not funny at all?

Listen i'm saying the typical Black, White and Brown lad in Britain all have no respect, no morals, have racist tendancies, lazy and drunk, which Harry is an example of. Hence why the country is going down the pan.

As for it being affectionate i've already explained, he is speaking very lowly of him whispering to his mate ah theres our paki mate, literally reading may seem affectionate but anybody with half an ounce of common sense would see what he' doing.

Same as this Paki comparison to Brit rubbish, OK maybe logically it makes sense but anybody with any common sense again knows this is a racist term.

    Defintion of "Paki": http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Pakis

"derogatory or racist overtones of Paki in British usage. "
"(UK, Canada, offensive, racial slur) "

So it is in fact a dreogatory term in Britian just to clarify for some overseas people, and obviously some of you from UK who were probably not around or walk around with there eyes closed and ears shut.

Having racist overtones doesn't make a word inherently racist. I simply means it could be used in a racist way depending on the context.

Not all Pakistanis are Muslim some are Christian, Atheist etc

Religion has not part in the discussion, "pakis" as Harry would say - are not a religion.

Fair enough but your surley not suggesting that Prince Harry isn't being racist in this video?

Paki in Britain (note: not in other parts of the world) is a racist word, full stop, it was used by racists and considered offensive by use of any non-pakistani within Britain.

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/new...i-officer-profoundly-condemns-the-Prince.html

The boy's dad, who has to represent his son has deemed the remarks as insulting and derogatory so much for being friendly.
I'm sure if it was meant in a friendly manner, and he regulary called him a paki (to his face maybe rather than whispering it) he would have defended the prince, but he does the opposite.

Some of you need to wake up seriously, you cannot argue that he was not being racist.

It's nothing more than banter between two good friends who are doing a long and difficult job.

There are situations where the use of the word "paki" would be racist, But this isn't one of them.

You're sitting at home saying "two good friends" where do you get this stuff from?

Seeing as the kid himself hasn't said anything we have to assume his dad is representing him, and he has said it is a huge insult and is meant in a derogtory way. I'm sure the kid would himself say the same thing.

This is the same kid whose dressed up as a Nazi, I don't know how you can even relate to him.

As far as i've read and who i've talked all ethnic minorities and educated white people insist that this was a clear act of racism. If you and other people want to avoid this then carry on doing so i couldn't care less.

Whilst I agree with some of your points, I think you are wrong and just as racist to stereotype the British as you have done and continue to do. There are good and bad people everywhere, Britain is no different from anywhere else.

And yes this is coming from a Brit, I am not proud of my country for many things, but we certainly are not all as you describe.
