Who knows the best way to price copywriting? I am looking to pay, but I need some general pricing guidelines from whoever knows a pricing model. Looking for ideas.
The actual price varies widely with talent/project scope/etc. You could get quotes anywhere from 50 cents per word on up the ladder. The price could be quoted as per word or project.
Yes/Maybe. I'm not saying that you'll be quoted a per word fee. I'm just telling you how it was probably figured. And it's possible that the copywriter just did an estimate like between X words - Z words. In the end, you'll ask for a quote on a sales letter, for instance, and you'll most likely get back a figure. But, like I said. There are too many variables to give you concrete answer. I don't know all the copywriters in the world.
That makes you wonder if they (both the writer and buyer) are fully aware of what good copywriting entails... Rebecca
It all depends. I have seen people charge from $100 to over $50,000 for a sales copy. I think if you are releasing something BIG and expecting over 1 million users or something, you must pay a professional for maximum $$$
Promotional materials would be much higher than just general site content and articles. I'm trying to put together a good content site where I can pay people 2 cents a word and up.
You get what you pay for. If you want a cheap service, fine, but why bother at all if you are not going to do it properly? Mark
Copywriting is the creation of promo materials. It's not article writing (like writing an article for a general how-to article for a magazine, site, newspaper, etc). And I haven't seen one that charges 2 cents. Those charging 2 cents here are not copywriters, they are general writers who are writing articles (call them article writers if you wish). Specifically, copywriting is the creation of marketing/adveritisng materials to get a response (sales letters, website copy, newsletters, business communications, etc).
There is a series of commercials in the US that have a man (or woman) teaching or offering expert advice on something obscure like physics. When questioned about their expert status, they usually say something like, "Well no, I'm not a doctor, but I did sleep at a Holiday Inn Express last night." Hence the joke... Rebecca
LOL - Just because I'm from Texas doesn't mean I take responsibility for EVERYTHING folks call Country Music. Rebecca
