I have recently installd phpLD script on my one year old directory PR-1.

I am little bit confused about the fee for featured listing.

Please advise me what should be reasonable fee for featured listing.

    Thanks

Depends on the popularity of your directory. Probably $0. :)

You decide yourself what you think its worth and in a way, submitters decide what its worth too, what their willing to pay for a featured listing, whether they even need to, like is there a listing or more within a category to justify using the featured option.

For starters, pricing a featured listing at $9.95 would be OK, I feel.

Really? People would pay $10 to have a "featured link" on a PR1 directory that probably gets little-to-no traffic and has links from nothing other than more PHPLD directories? Wow - I need to start a directory!

    Dear Sir/Madam :)

People will pay $30 for a featured link on a PR0 directory. :)

That shows that not everyone is buying PR.

This is interesting. Is there any chance to share that PR0 directory url? Why people buy $30 for one PR0 linkback.

You actually get deeplinks with it, why wouldn't they purchase it?

Someone recently mentioned a directory thats charging something like 400 $£ cant remember the currency, for a listing and 600 odd for a featured, whether anyone will be crazy enough to pay that is to be seen, the directory at a glance looked pretty standard, nothing extra.

Cant see how the directory could be more powerful than yahoo so obviously people would buy a handful in yahoo or quite a few in some of the strong directories.

But it shows the difference in listing prices.

I have priced $9.95 on one or two of my niche directories (which had PR0 at the time) when I first started them and people do pay for a listing on them.

I think it must be $0 if your PR is 1. When you will have more popularity you can change it from 9.99 to 19.99.

And the best way in my opinion - is to make a promotion with the countdown to paid listing. Like now free in 60 days 9.99....

Show your directory dear.....How is showing....and popular..
    anyways..

It's depends on your directory how it is popular and what is page rank of your web directory.. you can keep any amount for future listing like...

    Featured links - $7.50 to $10.00

It doesn't, popularity wont matter to nearly all submitters, that doesn't benefit them.

Web directories and sites dont have pagerank, only pages do, some submit pages have pagerank which makes no sense.

Yahoo directory charges $200 a year only .
IMO, a fair and market price is $5 to $8 .
Higher price will only drive off the buyers .

Cant really say theres a market price with directories, some offer more than others, deeplinks, rss, video uploads, various other features.

Doesn't drive off buyers, misinformation and selfishness drives off buyers.
