    Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has a goods site, if so how do you handle postage and make it competitive?

My website encourages users to sell/buy items of all shapes and sizes and requires them to pay for postage but depending on the item, it can become quite expensive to do it.

What I want to do, is provide a scheme of some kind to reduce the postage overhead by affiliating with a postage company, is there such a thing? how do you reduce postage costs for your customers?

    Thanks,

    Rez

If you are in the UK you probably need to look into bulk shipping thought the UK postal service.

Here in the states people usually do bulk shipping and buy so much in credit then print out labels as they weigh stuff and I think it gives them a little bit of discount.

Ok that wont work for me because of two reasons:

    1. my site operates as a swap site, so goods are exchanged between members directly and they handle postage costs between themselves
    2. the variance of types of goods does not allow me to bulk ship and shipping etc is not handled by me either

my site is www.swapezy.com if you want to get an idea of what it does.

So my question is really geared towards helping my customers to pay less for postage as a sign of courtesy...hence wondering if having an affiliation of some kind that allows us to use a postage company in exchange for them getting continued business from us would result in some kind of discount
