I'm hoping that some people that do this for a living can give me a price check on how much I should be paying for strict templates that will work in IE6, IE7 and FF. I can provide examples of the kind of pages that the templates will look like if it is a dependant factor, but in all honesty they're not complicated pages. All help appreciated guys. P.S. I'm not looking for somebody to do this for me from here (yet) I'm just wanting to know if what I'm being charged is fair, so don't PM me offers to do this for me for cheap. P.P.S. Unless you're awesome and very, very cheap
You shouldn't be paying any extra for valid code than for unvalid, it should be valid as standard. The quality of the design IS a factor though. You can pay $20 and get something poor or pay an experienced and quality designer $100 and get a great job.
Okay, but assuming I have a design (which I do) and I can draw it up and which way they want (psd, slice it, whatever) how much do you think the service is worth? I think $100 is a little low to be honest, especially compared to the quote so do you think a professional agency should be charging $100, $500, $1000!?
A pro freelancer would charge in the region of $350 to convert a PSD to xHTML/ CSS template - subject to which country they are in - due to terrible dollar rates at the moment our charge would be nearer $600 A lot depends on how much "design" is involved - if it is purely a template then the above is correct however if you are talking about something like a Master file for .Net with Skin files for controls then you are naturally talking more
