This might sound like a funny question, but then again its not. I'm looking for a good book to keep a record of all prices that we charge with then our web develoment company, we have everything in package deals, so the client knows what there getting. I need a good book to store all this information in, like a handy book, what would these books be called?
By pen and paper? A simple notebook would suffice. A computer program? Excell, MS Word, Access, any accounting software, et al. Quite simple.
I just didn't know if there was anything out there made particular for web development needs. Like an idea of how to set prices on everything, see what I'm saying?
There isn't a book that advises what you should charge. Unlike say in the automotive industry where Saab will give you a guide on billable hours for replacing a certain part (I think thats what you are asking) It all depends on geography, your skills, etc so there is no "right price" As far as keeping track of what you charge, I would suggest simple file folders in a filing cabinet for your customers. To get an idea per type of job, use an Excel file to put in how much you charged for a specific job. You can then run reports and graphs to establish the average and help in quoting future jobs - Just make sure you made a profit on the old (historical) jobs.
