Hi, I own and operate a classified ads portal, and we want to allow people to subscribe to mailing lists for different categories such as Accounting Jobs, Housing Wanted, etc,so they can receive daily or weekly digests for new jobs posted. Yet, from my experience, emails generated from PHP scripts usually end up in Junk Mail folders on Hotmail, Gmail, etc. Is there a way to prevent this? If so, then how? Thanks in advance for the help!
Check this: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/746809/prevent-sent-emails-treated-as-junk-mails-using-php-mail-funtion From my personal experience: send emails from an account which is on the server from which you send check headers you send
You can use RSS for that which will send them mails automatically when you add content.... Feedburner.com
If you are not spam website you can contact yahoo, gmail and hotmail technical support and they will clear you. But first they have to take you through a painful verifying procedure with alot of questions.
In my opinion... make sure your IP from which mail is sent is not blacklisted. This ensures that email reaches the correct receiver. Also, the message part does matter, as filters also consider them.
