Prevent a few people from abusing rep system.

How long are people going to get away with this clownish behavior?

No it was in the reason for red as the post below yours states. Too many people here like to abuse the system.

jerks are everywhere online, just as assholes are in every workplace you can think of. take it in stride, and just brush it off.

Briant--the same person can't give you two red reps in the same day..it's impossible

 

It's was the exact message, so maybe they just got the idea from my post here. But, it was the same amout of rep points. I have had other people (the same person?) find old posts and leave inane remarks (and red reps) on them.

I don't know, but I'm suspicious that it may have something to do with the P&R forum. I think there is a warning about that on the Reputation FAQ sticky thread

Yeah, I responded to a thread someone else made about this a while ago. Someone made the point that you should brush it off. I would, but for the fact that if your rep drops too low you can't have live links or sig links. At least that's what it says here:

Yeah, I was in the process of merging it.

 

You might annoyed a member who hates members starting rep threads.

just don't be a persistent asshole and you'll be fine. even some of us senior members get reds occasionally.

 

I get red sometimes, dont worry, reputation means nothing, as long as it stays green like my amazing avatar.

I dont think this can be prevented.
And if DP would on suggestion take the feature of rep from certain people who says that wont be abused ? Banning the wrong members from giving and taking rep

 

Yeah, from what I hear, starting a YART will get you red faster than you can blink your eye. Just move on with your life and don't let those few insignificant symbolic points get you down. It's a great forum, but its just a forum dude.

AT least the abuse has cut down to a bare minimum since the red mod was inserted. I have only gotten like 2 of those and saying it with a Big Green:
