Can anyone give me some info on press releases as a way of building links, 've read in a few places that it can get some good one way links but dont realy know where or what i should write in them. and could i just write about new sections of my site etc? thanks in advance.
All I know is that I did a PRWeb press release a few years back, it cost me nothing - It was a simple website launch announcement. It appeared on 40+ websites - mostly small (but they all count). The presumption is that they were looking for some content related to their niche, and my press release caught the attention of those 40+ sites. Also, the headline is vitally important. Cheers, Martin
You could take a look at this list of free press releases. There's a number of threads listing them also.
If you are willing to spend some money I suggest to use the paid service on prweb.com, you will be given the opportunity to add back links within the body of the press release. Your press release will get distributed to much more websites than if you were to use the free service. I have used this service twice within the past 2 years and I got great results with it.
JMattson said pr.com is excellent. Although you pay for it, she said it's well worth the money. It also does pass PR for the links.
I agree with MartinN above. You can pay a little extra and PRWeb will submit your press release to more publications including newspapers, magazines etc. Depending on your press release you could end up on a really good site.
Could i just write about new sections of my site in the press release? My site is to do with cats and cat info, do you think it would benefit with a press release or would it be unlikely to be picked up because of the topic? and thanks for previous info everyone.
