    Hi,

I want to do a press release for my site www.ontariohighwaytrafficact.com

What do you guys think about Press Releases? Do they help your business or website? Is it worth the effort? Will it help in achieving localized traffic? (Which is my main goal).

I would like to hear your thoughts and experiences with Press Releases.

    Thanks.

PRweb.com did great work for my sites. Ended up selling one which I bought for $6 for $1,800!

I still don't know how it sold for that much, nearly undeveloped too!

I paid a few hundred for the release to be boosted up on PRweb and wrote it myself.

I'm interested to know more. So on PRweb they have different packages. Which did you get?

Did some big sites pick up your press release? Is that mostly for sites with high Page Rank to just articles about you? Did you get a lot of relevant traffic out of it?

I'm interested in trying some channels to promote UberNote.

Press releases are great if done right. PRweb has a really good reputation, but I haven't used them.

You can read some releases of others, and you can try to send some to some publications that relate to your site. If you have some newspapers near you, come up with a good story about how you developed it or what is unique about it. Send the editors your release.

A lot of times newspapers are really looking for filler in their local sections - you might be surprised what you can come up with. One recommendation - don't quote yourself. The publications reading it really, really hate that, and they mark it right away as "amateur". (Happens all the time too).

    Good luck!!

PRweb works very well if you put your keywords in the title and the content. Google picks up the keywords from the press release and you can get quick search engine rankings. Use keywords that your local press would be interested in using so they'll read your press release. Make a controversial headline for the press release to get their attention.

I think press releases are well worth the effort. A good headline is important, as is clear content. Find a unique feature about your Website and promote it. Explain to the public why your Website meets the needs of so many people.

Yes, press releases can be great. I've never tried to put one together myself, but I know ShoeMoney had crazy success with that early in his internet marketing career. You'll probably need a really good story to get any media attention though.

I have used PRWeb a couple of times. The first time it didn't do anything and subsequent times it has been a little better.

The problem of course wasn't PRWeb, the problem was the quality of my press releases. If you can't create a good press release, it may be a waste of money.

You can also get regular magazines to accept your press releases too. As long as the press release is about something new with your company and is formatted professionally, they usualy suck those up pretty quickly. Look for magazines relevant to your business.

You get no guarantees with press releases, but if you are fortunate enough to have a newsworthy release and a few publications pickup on your story the effects can be dramatic. Either way, it is a worthwhile endeavour.
