is it worth anything or they ruin rankings? lots of people use these free PR sites and not sure if any proof of anything, unless u use paid PRs

 

PR is just picked by journalist and bloggers who search for news.
Rather than rely all on PR, it's better to present your site every where possible like: Article Directories, Forums, Document Sharing sites, Torrent sites, Contest sites, Social sites, ebook directory, podcast directory, software directory, Widget directory, Classsified ad sites, etc.

I believe press releases are a great way to get new leads as well as diversify your link portfolio. I don't know if this is true either, but I was going to run a few tests, but I have heard that prlog can sometimes get a press release ranked for a low comp keyword in regular google. This used to be the case with press releases and ranking in google but that is long gone and we all know that press releases can get ranked in Google News, but still being ranked in Google would be surprising news to me! I am def gna try a few test runs with prlog for some of my clients. If i see what I like, I'll be sure to let you know the results of the tests keywords.

Yeah i agree with andrikrisha.Rely only on one technique is not enough and try to submit your site every where.I have not gone for paid PR's.Instaed of that i have used social networking,it is also good approach for creating awareness about your site and products.
