Press Releases, Articles, and Duplicate Content

I'm having a little trouble understanding the whole duplicate content issue, at least with articles and press releases.

If I submit the same PR/article to 10 different PR/article sites, does only one of these help me with my SEO?

I've read that due to duplicate content the SE will only index one. So, do the other 9 help me with my page rank and SERP position, or are they just a waste of time?

Any clarification you could share would be much appreciated.

All duplicate content will be indexed but only the first created content will be shown at search results.. So with Articles and Press releases, all your links will be indexed which will sure help you in SEO!

Duplicate content is more than one page having the same content.

Article Submission Sites have very low SEO outbound link value, they are saturated with 1,000s if not 100,000s of outbound links. To think for one moment search engine spiders can't tell this or decipher that its a article submission site with the "true solo purpose" of providing backlinks in exchange for content is just plain silly.

Save your content! Use it on your own site, it will provide much more value SEO wise in the long haul.
