Press Release VS Articles

    Hi!

I've been wondering for the last few minutes what everyone prefers to use to market with and what they prefer to write.

For me I love to write articles because they are pretty quick .... but when it comes to marketing my own personal websites I rather write a handful of press releases and use those to market. I notice that I can write and submit one press release and get more traffic than submitting five articles. It's all about time management for me!

I can't wait to hear your opinions! :)

Funny, I just started another site and hadn't even thought about press releases. Where are you submitting them? Which sites or services have performed best for you? Thanks in advance!

Press releases are often rated as more valued content and as backlinks, as they are news related. They often get more highly ranked as a result than do informational articles. This is going to be more the case following recent Google updates that indicate the search engine will be valuing articles even less.

Article and press release both are the part of content marketing. But there is a big difference that Press release denotes of any news or new launch and article is brief description or knowledge about product or service.

What site has a better backlink. Does anyone really go to a press release site to read press releases? or an article site to read articles? I think most of the traffic is marketers submitting material for a backlink.

A year or 2 ago Ezine article were ranking but I haven't seen any article farms ranking for a while.

Actually you must write both PR and articles.
PR is news type, it means that you must have something that news-worthy to tell press about your sites.
Whether it's new releases, new features, new achievements/awards, new profits generated, and so on.
This news type are short, flash, and not depth.
Articles is different, they are more depth, full of informations, and have a purpose not just to tell the press about something new.

Articles. You give something to readers so they trust you. Press releases will go stale while an article is useful for the foreseeable future. As a customer, I'd rather see an article. It gives something useful instead of boasting about a service, achievement, etc. As a writer, articles are much more enjoyable to write in terms of creativity.

For some reason, me and press releases have never gotten along. When I write them, it takes me ten times as long as it does to write an article. Articles are always going to be my first choice over press releases.

I understand completely why press releases are good for link building and SEO, I just don't like writing them. In the future I may decide to learn how to write them faster and still keep the quality. Then I will be able to offer them. But as for a stable income, it is always going to be articles.

I think both of then since the two are doing good as far as backlinks and traffic is concern.

    I completely forgot I started this thread! So sorry --- I've posted a list of my top 5 PR sources below;

Mervp - You are completely right! They are viewed as much important and thus get better ranking. The news is considered more respected in the eyes of nearly everyone.

Averyz -- I use press release sites daily. I generally use them to either gather leads for my offline company or I use them to find out what is going on in the world and how I can share that with readers. Some times I'm even able to write a complete book on an idea I get from a press release.

MR. John -- They are hard to write! I remember about a year ago I hired a writer from here to write one and after three tries, she still was unable to get it right. There days there are books that provide resources and templates that make it so much easier to write them. One amazing book: The Ultimate Press Release Swipe File. This book provides you with a ton of ways to write press releases. I use it nearly daily and have even used it when trying to write articles, white papers or ebooks.

I think using press releases is a way to speed up the process of marketing compared to articles. These days with the new google updates, the news is much more respected that an article. Because a press release takes so much time to write it's simply a great choice for generally all sites to market with. I still love articles but when it comes to marketing -- I'm all about the press!

This site has a list of most of the sites I actively submit my goodies to :

My fav of the 20 is PRleap.com - the cost isn't super cheap but they provide a great service and a lot of my press releases have been picked up from a few magazines and stuff. :)
