What are the main differences between press releases and article submissions in terms of SEO? What are the best places to submit for each? Is one more effective than the other? and do you need to approach the writing of each differently?

I get a bit confused as people list them as seperate link development methods but i have always seen them as very similar things....i'm thinking i am wrong now tho!

It all depends on where you submit your articles and where you submit your Press Releases. I personally submit 2 Press Releases for my site every month to through one particular website that then turns around and sends it out to the world. As far as my articles go, I distribute 10 per month across thousands of directories, websites, newsletters, publishers, groups and so-on.

Some Great Services of both are being offered here: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1287894

There are hundreds of article directory websites..you can find them on websites such as directorycritic or vmoptions. There are only a handful of press releases that I have gathered that are worth submitting to. When you write a press release it is supposed to answer Who, What, When, Where, Why, and How (almost postiive). It is supposed to be a neutral article explaining the product service. Usually you will only have something news worthy upon launch, or major deals being made but you can find a way to make something seem newsworthy that's not :). Best bet is write for article directories until your comfortable; then write a more professional press release and send it out.

Hi GameFriends, thankyou for your reply. Can you give me the best places to submit press releases?

In terms of submitting articles to thousands of article sites, isn't this classed as duplicate content and therefore be discounted? I have heard mixed views on this, some people only submit their articles to a few article sites, others seem to submit to thousands. What are peoples opinions on which is the better approach?
