Press Release submission? Should they be unique?

    Hello again,

I am thinking on submitting press release.

However, as I researched and researched. I found there are lots of PR (Press Release) websites, which it seems like a very good start rather than paying those like emailwire or prbuzz.

Now, kinda thinking... Should I write unique press releases for EACH website submission? Or can I just use one article for all of them? What do you think guys?

As with any kind of content unique is always better. Press Releases are kinda tricky tho as many press release services and websites offer to spread your announcement to numerous other news websites so it wouldn't really matter as you will have the same content shared in various sources.

Not sure which business you are in, however when I searched for GOOD pr websites across the web I managed to find just a few that can also relate to our business. Sure, there were lots of pr websites, but the majority seem pretty spammy or just begging Google to shoot them down with a penalty. So the number of useful ones diminished to just a couple. I am sure that many industries will find more related services like that, but my advice would be to pick them very carefully and choose only the most quality ones. For a good exposure you don't need to post a lot, just pick the right partners ;)

You should write unique press releases for each press release site. Most of the good PR sites do not approve duplicate press release. Even, if you are doing it for link building then it is not good source for link building because Google recently announced that it does not count links from press release sites as trusted sources.

Press releases do have the same weight as they did in the past after Panda 4.0. Many sites like PRweb, PR Newswire, BusinessWire and PRLog saw a huge drop in traffic and do not have the ranking pull like they did in the past. I would recommend to find editors in chief or staff that write for your niche/vertical and pitch them your stories. Hope this helps.

the fact that these news release wires distribute the content you submit to them on various sites, having unique content on press releases is no longer a necessity IMO - however unique has always been the best (but again since these wires are sending it to multiple channels I just dont get the point of doing so)

Of course unique content. Google won't rank your PR article if it's NOT unique... Or at least not so good!! Don't forget that if everybody can copy content from another website, the world wide web would be so chaotic even GOOGLE bot won't know what where and which keyword to rank for :D :D :D

If you submit single PR on different different PR accepting websites, then you are doing spam. Publish PR top 2 or 3 website only.

No! Google views press release content as "Syndicated" content, not duplicate. The ORIGINAL press release needs to be original, thanks it!

It means if you post a press release to press release websites, it is syndicated content, NOT duplicate. Google themselves and EVERY Fortune 500 company published press releases DAILY. Do you think Google will penalize themselves and Fortune 500 companies for issuing press releases and counting it as duplicate content?

If you publish a single PR content on different websites, then it count duplicate.

You can post the same press release content on many PR websites. It is news and therefore it won't be considered as duplicate content in my opinion.

Its simple. If unique content, there is a chance for all your PR from PR sites might rank well in search engines. If same duplicate content, non of your PR from any sites will rank well in search engines. So i recommend you to write and submit unique content.
