Press Release Sites Suitable for Small Businesses

Does anyone know of any press release sites that will accept press releases about small businesses - eg Small Business X is offering free assessement lesson to new pupils or Small Business Y is offering loyalty payments to existing customers.

I've tried a couple of press release sites but they've never been published so assume that the editors are after more world shaking news.

Many thanks rain21 - a good list. But do you know which sites will accept local news stories of small businesses - rather than bigh "important" news articles? It's quite time consuming registering, submitting, working out how they want the links etc - and then not getting anywhere.

Hmm I'm, not sure about press releases as I never really tried those, though I might in the future for kicks, but have you looked into article marketing? If you write some good content and then advertise your business in the author bio box of article sites, you could definitely promote it well that way. I used this in conjunction with e-commerce sites and worked alright. I'd always take free traffic over paid traffic anyway.
