I am looking to send out a press release regarding the launch of my site. Any recommendations for sending out a press release?
If you want only free options, submit to the major newswires (such as AP) if you have either really important news for a national / international audience, or if you think there's a great local angle that your regional office may care about. Also, if you don't want to pay to have PRweb list you in Google News and such, www.pr.com and www.prleap.com will both get you added there with their free listings. If you're going to upgrade though, PRweb is probably the best place to do it. Jenn
Another vote for PRWeb. I have used it for just that purpose. Last site I launched, I paid $40 and in around 2 weeks, from that alone, I had over 200 backlinks to my site in Google. I would reccomend that you take the time to write a decent PR well in advance of your planned launch date - say 2-3 weeks. Go for something that is around the 300 - 400 word mark and get several friends to review/preview your planned PR before it is released.
Spartan Internet Consulting, out of Lansing, MI has a great amount of experience sending out press releases for their clients. Generally the releases revolve around the use of Internet in marketing, or new client relationships/products. It's one of their niche services, but they've seen significant success.
