    I don't think it should be an either/or question... both have their uses and should be used accordingly. Press releases can be great for capturing some offline traffic as well...

    Both have their advantages
    Use press releases for releasing news on major updates to your company/website, keep it professional
    Use articles for creating backlinks and slowly driving traffic
