press release or article submission?

Both press release and article submission are the basic ways to do general marketing. Which one do you prefer? Or do you confuse them?

Press Release and article are definately different each other. I would say Press Release is a lot more powerful than articles, however, if you have some writing skills, you should do the articles and submit to the article sites that drive traffics..

I would prefer article submission because an article with unique content and good keywords phrases will rank really well in search engines. When this happened, it is the main source of free traffic to your site.

Press release news tend to get ignored as the time goes and we need to update it every month or once in a while.

Press release and articles submission both have their different roles to play.

Press Release is written from a third party perspective and contain a news report or an announcement, sometimes unbiased information about a company or a product. Created for journalists and reporters to use it on their medium such as print, broadcast and web.It is usually used to create a buzz or awareness if you like and does carry weight in terms of news credibility. Some online pr sites will allow backlinking, most don't.

Article Submission is usually written to educate and teach the common reader something of value. It is usually used to create backlinks and drive targetted traffic to websites.

All in all both builds personal credibility and are effective when done in synch.

Articles are probably easier to get approved and to distribute and probably better for traffic in a general sense.

Press releases require a bit more "skill" to write - or at least if you want to be taken seriously enough to get picked up and distributed. With that being said, you can get an awesome amount of traffic if you get featured on a major site.

In terms of backlinks, a couple of PRWEB links can do you very well in deed.

    So, do both!

I would prefer article submission, you can use it effectively to increase your search engine ranking, while press release written or recorded for the purpose of announcing something claimed as having news value. A press release is typically some type of business announcement. Grand opening. Article Submission helps you to boost your individual and business credibility and builds your Brand Equity.

Think the points sort of been covered but press releases are a very short lived things in comparison to articles. For a example a press release talking about the start of wimbeldon or the world cup would only interest people and get attention at the start of the actual tournament. A article on the history of wimbeldon or the world cup will attract interest for an unlimited amount of time, so in my personal opinion an article has a much greater shelf life.

I would prefer to submit to article directory sites rather than press release. I think press releases are more complicated to do. Also, submissions on some press release sites can take a long time before it will be posted.

They both are good but It depends on what type of traffic do you want, fast traffic to your website or a little less traffic but in a long period of time. With press release you get fast traffic but with article submission you get long traffic.

Use both. Press releases have a different format than articles and are news focused. Here are some tips about press release writingand formats.

A very easy way to come up with a press release is the "tips" formula. Write an intro paragraph and then say something like Mr. Webmaster (that would be you) offers these tips for better website design. Then include each tip with a brief description.

Press releases are a lot more powerful than article submissions. They cost more. But you can do one for about $20. When I do this I usually get big results.

Every time I launch a new site, I submit a free press release to PRLog and submit 5 unique articles to the top 10 article directories (for PR links) and again through ArticleMarketer (cause you never know who will republish it on their blog or site). The press release ALWAYS shows up first in my back links, even before EzineArticles.

I do think you have to be in a consumer-friendly niche in order to write an acceptable press release. If you're promoting something that is being mass-marketed to death (think Acai), it can be difficult to find a news worthy angle. But I have written press releases that focus on the launch of the site itself, rather than the product, and that seems to work.

I would do both. Just write a couple of press releases. You can refashion them into articles. Good luck.

I think article submission is for the begginers. If you don't have visitors yet you would not have people to read the press releases. So, that would be the choise.

On the other hand, if have already a lot of visitors, press releases would be the best imo.
