Press release - dup or no dup

    Hi

I have not release many press releases. Here is the question. If I submit a press release to lets say PRWEB, can I use the same press release for all other press release sites or no. I understand that you can not submit same articles when you submit them - does it work the same way with press release?
I would love to get an answer before I screw myself. Thanks

It won't screw you over, otherwise every news service in the world would be banned from the search engines. Most of the news content these days is published by AP, which gets picked up by thousands of news services, and Google doesn't penalize any of them for distributing the news.

The purpose of a press release is different than an article. With a REAL press release your goal is to get your message out to as many venues as possible. Duplicate content is not an issue for press releases. Think about that for a moment.

I agree with the other people here. i send out my press releases to as many places as I can. This give you the best chances of it being picked up and if it is written well it may even get posted on Google news. So take your time check your release for bad grammar and punctuation and send it out to every site that will accept it.

PR is waste of money IMO. Could work for link building.

If you submit to multiple sites its better to change the article.

Terrible advise. If this were true then every large company in the world is wasting their time. Press releases are a great way to get product awareness and backlinks. If you submit your release to a site that includes it in Google News, then you are going to get those things.

As for the uniqueness of the press releases... not necessary. A lot of places that pick up your release will change the wording. That's the point of a press release. You are giving the press the facts and they can rewrite the story as they choose, as long as the facts remain.

PR is good to get links and traffic.. But in my opinion you must learn how to write a good press release first, otherwise you would be wasting your time and money...

And duplicate content is never a problem with PR.. Think how many news site use the same article that are taken from reputed sources.. So go ahead and start your campaign without worrying about dup content

    Interesting discussion...

Do any of you have recommendations for the best places to drop your press releases? Have you had better luck with some sources over others?

Clearly there are plenty of sites where you can post your PR for free. But as for the paid submission sites, are any worth the fees they charge?

    Thanks in advance!

Yes, there is a definite difference. Most free press release sites are just hanging there on the web. In order to get included in Google News, which is the most important place to get your release included, you have to pay. Google News is important because it creates a lot of backlinks to your release and is spidered by the regular Google spider almost instantly.
