On Wednesday, President Obama appeard in "The View", which is a daytime talk show for those that dont know. A lot of people have been saying that by him appearing on tv shows, such as this one he is sacrificing the dignity of the Office of the President.

Personally, I dont think he is sacrificing the 'dignity' of the office, by being a more modern president than what we're used to. I think that this is a smart approach. Obama is smart in the sense that he is reaching out to the "United States", not just those who are involved in politics.

Either way, what do you think on the president appearing on TV shows???

    Hey why not?

This is 21 century and it's about time people change their preconceived notions.

Goes to show that he's just another human regardless of being a president. Humble is what I'd say.

i quite like obama, but appearing on main strem TV shows like the view, a show which features a cretin who thinks that the earth is less than 6000 years old and that christianity predates "everything", is a bad move. As the president of the USA he should have more important things to do that chat with these idiots.

Why should the presence of a christian on the view disturb you? The guy attended a church for more than a decade that not only teaches all the bible tales, and throws black liberation theology(Whitey is keeping me down) in for flavor.

It's not the presence of a christian, it's the presence of a cretin. A cretin who is given air time on a popular TV show. The president should have higher standards and be more selective about the shows he appears on and people he talks to on TV.

I respect everyone's opinion, but, the president should have higher standards, what does this mean, REALLY? Does President Clinton have higher standards than President Obama JUST because he didnt appear on daytime or latenight Tv? What about that fact that he cheated on his wife publically, denied it, and then later confessed it was true... Does he have higher standards? I think not! OR what about the incompentent President George W. Bush??? What about him??

Like I stated before, he is reaching out to the public, the actual United States, he is showing Americans that he is a regular human being, he doesnt think of himself as better than the rest of us, just because he is the President of the United states.

What you are saying doesn't make any sense. I didn't say anyone who doesn't appear on the view has, by default, higher standards. I'm saying a president who does have higher standards shouldn't appear on it. He has probably the most important and serious job on the planet, he shouldn't be sitting on a sofa chatting to an actress and some cretin who doesn't know if the world is flat or not about what he likes to do in his spare time and funny anecdotes about the time his dog took a shit in his slippers.

You keep mentioning the word “should” and “shouldn’t”, who decides what the President should or shouldn’t do? America is a FREE country, everyone in this country including the President should be able to do as they please. I understand what you’re saying about him having a serious job and important issues to handle, but what makes you think that he is not doing his job? Is it the HOUR that he took out of his day to go on the “View”? Even the President of the United States deserves a day off, especially if some of the issues happening right now are out of his control.

I think it was a good thing, but I don't think he addresses the 'tough' questions properly
