Suggestion Premium User Thread Bump - Company Wide?

    Hello,

My suggestion is that thread bumping should be allowed company wide. I realize the logistics may require a bit of thought and tweaking but here is an example of our situation.

Our thread for CPAlead was created by Troy who is an owner of the company. However, the advertising and PR team work on the forums - that would include myself. I work for CPAlead and for all intents and purposes that is "my thread" and where I spend the majority of my time on DP. However, I cannot bump it since I am not the creator. This makes it difficult for a company with several employees. We support DP 100% and have multiple team members here as premium users but unfortunately, none of us can bump our thread.

Perhaps if the thread owner could give someone else bump permission, that would remedy the matter. I'm sure there are several other companies with multiple employees on here.

    Thanks so much,
    Kent

Probably not going to happen to be honest... Setting bump permissions on a per thread basis would be a TON of work, and ultimately a ton of backend data as well.

    Thanks for the reply,

Some ideas to throw against the wall here:

    - Allow premium users to bump any thread (but you can only bump once per week). I don't see a downside there since its not like premium users are going to waste their only bump on irrelevant threads and if they do, that's odd and a waste of time on their end.

I think that would be the solution, the upside is it solves a small issue, little to no downside and likely little to no development required.

Otherwise, another idea would be allowing someone to transfer "ownership" of a thread but that would likely require a lot more work.

Transferring ownership of a thread flat isn't going to happen, I can tell you that right off the bat. Internally it would require pretty huge restructuring of how threads and posts are stored/used internally.

As far as being able to bump threads that aren't yours, it's something I had thought about when we first introduced the ability to bump, but decided against it because it would just proliferate people selling their "bump credit"... it's bad enough with people selling their signatures or even avatars as it is...

In real-world use for the thread in question, a bump is no different than someone replying to the thread (goes to the top of the forum at that moment in time).

Is it that hard for him to just login once a week or whatever and bump the thread? Seems like a pretty easy solution. Or, as DP said, one of the CPAlead guys could reply if they have something to add and that serves as a bump of the thread.
