Hello DP members, me and my partner want to sell our biggest site.
The site is around 5 years old, now is called FlightSimFiles, but time ago was called Flying Legends.

It runs a newly developed system based on CodeIgnitor, which costed almost 3k euros.

    Some interesting stats:

    25k registered members (yes, 25.000)
    22k unique visits monthly
    118k pageviews monthly.

The site has no revenue... yet.

    If you buy, you get:
    2 domain names: flightsimfiles.com and flying-legends.net
the newly developed system (3k euros value)
and of course the site and all its content.

Please, let me know any questions.
We are listening only serious offers for this.

    Thank you,
    masterB

Hi there, please allow me to introduce myself. Im the owner and founder of flightsim files which was around 4 months ago called flying-legends.net

The site is basically a social gaming site where its users submit files they have created for anything related to flight simulation.

When I first developed the website roughly 5 years ago it was for myself and a few friends that I flew online with, however after while the site started gaining additional users which I didnt anticipate at all, so I decided then to invest money into the site and release it as v2 around 3 years ago. Now recently I decided yet again to have a new system built around the users requests from emails and general feedback.

The website offers many things, from a PM system, there own personal journal and a means to upload there files and allow other members the option to download.

In no way shape or form is the database old, bought or stolen.

If the site does not sell, then it is no loss to me. I will simply invest more money into it and offer the said 25k members the option to pay a small fee of $10 a year which will grant them additional features over the basic user account.

Exact numbers are as follows :
    Registered Members : 26.038
    User created Files : 7.485

    Analytics :

If you do have any constructive questions related to the site, please feel to ask.

Please take into consideration that Im based in the UK so time zones may cause problems in replies.

This does seem a little weird... 25k members, no revenue?

It does... The Alexa rating is only 1,320,104 which indicates a very small amountof traffic. It's also a 220% increase from this time 3 months ago, so you must have been getting hardly and traffic then. And there are 25k members yet only 1 site linking in. Moreover, according to Alexa 49% of your traffic is OTHER traffic, which looks to me like it's from bots, which can only mean you're purchasing traffic right?

It seems very fishy to me so you're going to need to explain that, or lose your chance of making any deal.

Did you fully read my post regarding the domain name ;) I stopped using the original domain name flying-legends.net and now use flightsimfiles.com as I thought the latter domain name would be more suited.

additionally the old site never had analytics added only the new site / system.

    submit express
Total links for www.flying-legends.net are 10824 - Alexa traffic rank
Total links for www.flightsimfiles.com are 508 - Alexa traffic rank

flying-legends.net is also has a pagerank of 3

Ive never purchased traffic or advertisements for the website.

If you goto flying-legends.net you will see Ive told the old bookmarks to be sent to the new URL.

Guys theres nothing fishy going on with the site. The site has has taken me around 5 years to build up and invest to what it is today.

This is what Im going to do, I'll continue selling the site here for a few more hours and then remove it. The only thing I'm having to do on this forum is explain myself that the site is not dodgy and being cross referenced over it.

I have other important things to do.

I am interested, what's the starting price?

Also, the forums are totally dead... 25k members and 10 posts? somethings wrong.

When a member adds an entry to there journal they have the option to add it to the forums. The forums are only populated by people wishing to add their journal entries to the forum.

The forum is custom built which isnt Open source.

Make an offer on the starting price, you can see the stats - quote your price on these.

And for the last time 'theres nothing wrong' or 'Fishy' and its not even a 'bought or stolen database'

    Thanks.

Doesn't seem fishy to me. Let's think about this:

    1. The site is 5 years old! Plenty of time to get 25,000 members.

    2. 25,000 members does NOT mean 25,000 visitors every day! Come on people, the Alexa is low because the site gets 22,000 visitors per MONTH. That's about 735 PER DAY. He even posted Analytics. I don't know why anyone would think the Alexa rank would be anything great.

    3. 25,000 members does NOT mean they are all active. I'm sure many registered and never came back.

    4. It makes no money cause it hasn't been monetized, there are literally no ads that I could see on the site.

    5. This sort of site is a micro-niche. Anyone going to it is looking for exactly what is offered, so it is not inconceivable that a good chunk of the visitors sign up as members.

    6. As far as age of domain and backlinks: You're probably looking at the wrong domain name! He even says the site used to be FLYING-LEGENDS.NET!

You people need to read the numbers more carefully before you simply assume something is fishy. All these numbers seem to make perfect sense to me.

The real questions here are: Is flying-legends.net also included in the sale? And, why did you change domain names?

Anyway, good luck with the sale.

Yes both domain names are included and an additional one.

    www.flying-legends.net
    www.flightsimfiles.com
www.flightsimreviews.com This also has its own custom CMS which I build myself and all the content on that is also unique. How the site worked is fairly simple I would contact the fellow developers / publishers and as for a review copy. Once I had that I would then give it to a lucky member on flying-legends.net and then ask them to write a review which in turn was then place on flightsimreviews.com - simples :)

The reason for domain change was simple, I wanted to target more search engines with the term flight sim files, this the reason I purchased the domain name. Currently all people going to flying-legends.net are forwarded to flightsimfiles after 5 seconds also with a short description whats happening and why.

The script used is not for sale, this is unique and should remain so, for now and the future.. The script / system is unique in its own right as it was build around is user requests which cost around 3,000 Euros so the system / script will be sold along with the sale of the website.

The website was my hobby in which Ive put alot of bloody and sweat into, its not a site im flipping or wanting anyone else to flip, it needs a good loving home that will support the members, hell I've even added live support to the site so I can help people on the site.

Thanks Boxer126 for helping me justify to the viewers here that Im no fraud or black hat artist. Ive been in the flight simulator bussiness for over 6 years now and also own a development company that developers aircraft for M$ Flight Simulator.

Regarding price for the whole thing...
Please look at it from my point of view, its has been my life for over 5 years now and my wife can vouch for that so asking me how much I want is a little crazy.. imagine the money and hours invested, the blood and sweat poured into it.. theres no way i could ever put a price on this. To help you come to a price offering, put the price on the stats you see before you and then see how the bidding goes.

Further more, if look after and the members keep signing up, theres 2 big flight simulator games coming out which I did intend to support also on the website, so regarding content, just keep the site alive with simple news posts now and again and hold out for the new game releases. Ive chatted via email on several occasions to a guy called Oleg Madox - Maddox Games the developer of IL2 sturmovik and he would repay the favor of supporting his next release with links on his game website.

    Thanks for your understanding,
