Maybe you're right. Digitalpoint might be the wrong place to offer this. You may or may not write better than me, I don't know. I was a English literature major with a minor in creative writing and I've written copy and content for large retail businesses. Also, all of my writers are native speakers who enjoy writing. Ah well : )
Everybody makes mistakes; I'm just messing with you. In regards to absolutenewbie's comment that nobody will hire you at $0.025 per word, I have to disagree. I have been hired for more, and for less, than what you are charging here. It all depends on the urgency of the job, the niche, and the time of day, as well as your introduction to the potential client. You may get less business by charging $0.025 per word, but if you can offer immediate service to people with limited time, and nobody cheaper is around to complete the project as quickly as you can, I am sure you will get a decent amount of orders.
I couldn't disagree more, I have nothing against the Indian writers, and I am sure there are some who can wirte almost perfect English, but the fact is, unless you are a native speaker you will never 100 percent have the ideal grammar and written langauge that most clients are looking for.
you must be naive thinking that only native's speak the language properly. Talk about low education people being natives, what extensive vocabulary do they possess or even the ability to structure appropriate sentences? Let alone in comparison to a foreigner who has underwent International School and hardcore English lessons for their entire life?
I do not know why you keep saying that someone cannot make more than $0.025 per word on this forum when it has no basis in fact. I have already made more than $0.025/word on DigitalPoint, as have plenty of other writers. The price is highly variable on this forum and depends on the client's needs. Your comment that there are more professionals on oDesk "than in a forum with no guarantee" is strange. There are plenty of degree holders in this forum, and as a law graduate, you should know that a "guarantee" is individually established case-by-case, dependent upon the contract that is formed between the parties, and enforceable as a part of the contract. In your first post, you said that you could probably write better content than the OP-er, and in this quoted post, you have talked about being a law graduate. It seems the only reason you are challenging his price is to promote yourself in this thread because apparently you fear people will select his services over the services you posted in your own thread. Also, in the post I am responding to, you say that you are "a law graduate from one of the top Law schools in UK." A graduate is a person who has actually completed a program and received a degree. On the oDesk profile you posted, I see that you list yourself as being a law student at the University of Exeter since October of 2009. Now, my math may be wrong, but that only makes you a first year law student, who may or may not even be finished the first year yet--certainly a far way off from being "a law graduate." I know of no law school in England or Wales which allows graduation in less than two years (and that's with a previous undergraduate degree), let alone five months. If you advertised yourself on this forum as a "law graduate" rather than a "law student" and someone accepted your work on that basis to do an important legal writing task, they might be inclined to sue you for fraudulent misrepresentation if you screwed up. One final comment on your posts: Beginning your posts with "lol" does not make the subsequent words less bitchy, nor does it disguise the words as being anything other than shameless self-promotion by a competitor of the original poster who apparently feels too insecure about her work to let her own sales thread stand on its merits.
Firstly, do you always tell the truth on the internet? Secondly, what form of "contract" do you draw up with your employers, a signed one? Because regardless of signing, a contract may still be a contract however the access to your employer-employee relationship is almost void unless you ask them to prove every form of identity they have along with their postal address. Intimidating much? In terms with the '2009' Exeter quote, that was the graduating year and if that stated year started, a mistake was done, considering being a graduate since 2009, you can do the math again. As for me challenging your material and you feeling quite offensive about it, it is quite hilarious what a bit of 'bitch' talk could do to people who are so insecure with themselves. Sorry that I take most of what you do a joke, but I suppose that's my entertainment and for you to fall into a defensive mode.
lol superior English? Absolutely flattered considering I was high when I wrote that. Congratulations to you Mr. Law-Dude, correct the absolute high-off-their ass person because you're clearly out of anything else productive to do so you step into other people's businesses.
Yes, I do, when dealing with clients, because if I did not I would be unable to enforce the contract. I come to an agreement electronically. PMs or instant messages are a record of the contract. First, there is usually no "employer-employee" relationship on DigitalPoint. The people doing the work are almost always independent contractors rather than employees. If you were a lawyer, you would know that. Second, there are plenty of ways to secure one's self against potential breaches of contract. When I do work for others, I do not get the money up front, so there is no financial risk to them. For those writers who want a deposit, paying only to verified PayPal accounts can protect the purchaser. You can try to pretend that DigitalPoint is a fraud just waiting to happen, but a quick survey of this forum suggests that almost no buyers care about using oDesk. Simply put, people are already comfortable with the infrastructure here, and you are not going to be able to scare anybody into purchasing your services by suggesting that breaches of contract and fraud is lurking around every corner. No. October 2009 is the graduating date and not the time you began? Your oDesk profile says you have been a member of their website since November 6, 2009. Your "Other Experience" says: So, according to your story in the post I am responding to, you graduated in October 2009. But according to your oDesk account, which you opened after the time you claim to have graduated, you are "a current law student." I guess when you wrote "am a current law student" the month after you claim to have graduated, you were just making a 19 letter typo. I believe you mean to say that I feel quite "offended," and I don't, because if you bothered to look at the history of this thread, it was the original poster's material that you challenged, not mine. I jumped in when I saw a ridiculous attempt by you to unjustifiably badmouth someone who appears to be a qualified writer in his own thread while tooting your own incompetent horn.
I am sure all of DigitalPoint's buyers will be anxious to give a pothead their business. Step into other people's businesses? Anybody who reads this thread can see that you were the one who intruded on the original poster's thread to criticize his price and say that you could do a better job than him.
This is the sale thread from WordWaves, if you like to chat -> http://forums.digitalpoint.com/forumdisplay.php?f=19
Lol I'm pretty sure they would. A pot head with the intellect of MENSA. In regards to 'stepping into other people's businesses', I am dealing with the OP not you so you can maybe try to dumb down the protecting your boyfriend front that you have taken upon. Clearly you must have realized by now that words are just words so maybe try to sound less defensive because the more protective you get, the more insecurity flaws are displayed at a worldwide audience. Toast to your embarrassment?
Lol Stop spamming the OPs thread, I love how you type so much as though my work is similar to a thesis of analysis. As for oDesk and my references here, what point are you trying to deliver? If I lie, it's my funeral on oDesk, right? Do something more productive because clearly the OP doesn't give much care between you and my conversations. I challenged the OP but his boyfriend stepped in, now how do you think it would look to other people with a bunch of "grown men" grouping together against a lady who goes around "trolling"? It seems you took much care into following up with this conversation as I'm assuming you feel that you don't want to 'shame' yourself by losing a virtual dispute? Lol laughs to you but thanks for the entertainment.
@absolutenewbie, What are you trying to accomplish here? Like it or not, most of my clients prefer U.S. and U.K. born English writers. Please take your negativity elsewhere.
