If John Doe owned a thread offering directory submission service (or Anything) he would gladly pay $20 to have his thread at the top as even if he sold half a package he would recover his cost.
And we only want people whose threads do good business to be at the Top

if Shawn was worried about moderating Area 51, he could have just changed the permissions for that particular group to allow them access to Area 51.....

 

If you call the hundreds of unpaid hours that the moderators spend cleaning up the forums, protecting the members from scammers, spammers, and dupes, then yes, it was free.

 

Benefits Idea: A second Buy, Sell and Trade section exactly like the current one except only Premium members can make threads while every one can view and reply!

We are actually contemplating the idea of having a special BST forum in which only premium members can post,view and reply in Area51

EDIT: Did I happen to mention that everything will be cheaper there and we will have exclusive deals too

 

viewing and replying should be open to all members or else you will limit your buyers number

 

The idea of the Forum would be to give special deals to Premium members, Sellers can sell the same thing in public BST Too!

 

Have one forum for that, AND my suggestion. Why restrict a normal premium BST section to only being able to get business from less than 1% of the members when you can get WAY more business by letting every one do business with you. Heck, my suggestion would solve 98.6% of the downside to the normal BST forum.

 

I'd prefer to just pay $100-200 a week to have a topic be a sticky in a BST section. If there is a lot of demand in one section charge more to make it more exclusive. I know I'd buy them and try to keep it sticky for an entire year.

 

I'd also like to pay that amount for a sticky and so will johnny, Dexter, Mickey and Donald...in the end we are back to square one if not worse

 

If lots of people are buying them then the price in that section is not high enough.

 

stickies at 200 or 250 dollars per week should easily make DP an extra 5-10k per month i personally would buy a sticky .

Neat idea, only as mentioned - it will get abused, easily.

Firstly, what's stopping somebody asking their friend to come along, add a [Review] prefix to their reply and getting an easy bump? There's no way of moderating who has actually bought the product / service or not. Secondly, imagine the amount of spam people would create trying to reach the 100 (or higher) post mark.

I'm pretty sure Shawn would rather not spend time developing a feature knowing it will get abused in one way or another as soon as it's released. Why make extra work for himself and Mods?

 

Any possibility that we can get a username change as a part of upgrading? It could be a one time option and must be done as a part of the payment process. It would be great for those that have been learning and are stepping it up so to speak in branding themselves.

P.S. Anyone else notice that Nintendo kinda just appears and then vanishes again? Freakin wackos...

 

I think Shawn is testing the username change feature. He gave a hint that this feature will be available soon (may be for premium members only).
