"premium domain names" = the new ripoff

While searching for possible new URLs, I came across a decent compound word URL on godaddy that was still available. It was a .com, but the results screen said something like "this domain is available as a premium domain" and instead of being $8.95, it was like $800.00...for no reason whatsoever, just because nobody else had purchased it. Is this the new thing that domain sellers are going to start doing? If so, that is extremely sad, pathetic, unfair, etc

godaddy registered it and they sell it. it's not available for registration. just check with another registrar if it appears available. or see whois.

What was the domain??? would be smart of godaddy to buy it and sell it back at 100 times more to make huge profit.

one of them was "jobquiz.com" but I see that it has already been purchased! I forgot what the other one was.

So that's how it works? Godaddy registers a domain, and re-sells it at top price?

That is new Fabulous DDN (Domain Distribution Network). It offers premium names for sale instantly through participating registrars. Prices vary from around $100-5000 domains and the registrars and registrants have agreed that you can buy them anytime and they are instantly transferred. It's a new marketing channel for low range domains through registrars so that people searching for those domains or similar ones can buy them even if they are registered in a fast/easy manner without having to go through whois or sedo etc.
