I made myself a bowl of cereal then put the cereal back in the fridge and the milk in the cupboard. I didn't notice what I had done until I went back to get another bowl. It's pretty sad, but this is a regular occurence for me when I'm pregnant. It's a good thing my job doesn't require me to operate heavy machinery or save lives.
lol, i think all the nutrients are going to the fetus instead of your brain have you started getting urges to eat weird stuff yet? My friend's mom had craving for brick dust (I'm not making this stuff up) and my aunt was addicted to bone marrow (particularly pig bones).
It's funny... I read an article about it seven months into my wife's first pregnancy. It's actually a medical problem that happens to most pregnant women. Forgetfulness and illogical thinking are things you are probably going to have to get used to for a while. Enjoy it while you can, there's a lot of humor awaiting you! You at least have an excuse... I apparently get sympathy stupidity while my wife is pregnant and that's pretty much just a me thing. No articles to show that it's something natural or that it happens to a lot of husbands.
When I was pregnant with my first, I was telling my husband one morning about how you get clumsier too... just as I knocked the shower curtain bar down as I tried to put a towel over it.
Damn, I don't need to be pregnant to do silly things like that!!! I've poured tea in the sugar bowl, left my mail in the fridge and tried to put the tea pot lid back on the milk bottle before. There's a whole load of morning stupidity to be had!
My wife and I say that the woman loses about 1/5 of her brain with each child. Now that we have six, I have to take care of her too. (My mom had 8, so she can really get ditzy sometimes. I was the second so it wasn't my fault) It is funny how the hormonal imbalances during pregnancy can screw with her head.
Amazing that IT companies sweat with every week that passes because they know that soon you'll insist on leaving and not working 40+x hours per week. Don't they know that you're not thinking straight anyway? The drama each time! Funnier still was that in my scheduled last week of work for both my kids I got called for Jury Duty. Don't know where I would have been more dangerous!
I'm about to be a Grandma and my daughter is going though the same thing. She's always been an A+ student with honors. Now that she's preggo her brain is just GONE! It's pretty funny. She thought it was the hormones, but then found out too that your brain actually shrinks when you are pregnant. Does it come back, I hope?
Yes, and quite quickly Source: Phosphorus-31 Brain MR Spectroscopy in Women During and After Pregnancy Compared with Nonpregnant Control Subjects
Well, I knew it was common for pregnant women, but I hate to admit that I'm sometimes like that when I'm not pregnant too! Right after my first baby, I was having a hard time breastfeeding so I would try pumping. I managed to get a whole 3 ounces after pumping 3 times and it was like gold to me. I carried it carefully in the bottle to the counter and set it in front of the microwave. Then I went to warm up another bottle of milk and opened the microwave door. My precious milk that I had spent a veeerrry long time trying to get splashed all over the floor. I've never been so angry in my entire life. I cursed enough to make a sailor blush - but it was all because I was so stupid. So I guess in my case, my brain doesn't return to normal as quickly as most other women. I don't think it ever did.
i hated being pregnant with a passion - yet we're already talking about when to have our second lol i never had cravings when i was pregnant, but now that i'm not, and all i do is breastfeed, all i want to eat is peanut butter and jelly sandwhiches......it's kinda strange.
I never had any weird cravings with my 1st, and I don't have any this time - not yet anyway. I do love pb&j sandwiches though! I love being pregnant. I'm sick as a dog, and I always feel rotton, but I still love it because it's so worth it!
oh i agree, it is very worth it! But i was sick for 6 months and was miserable.....but i would do it all again
i don't understand what women are going through during pregnancy.. but i get really worried when i see pregnant women.. please take care..
Nooooo Pregnancy is not to be worried about it. Its the most amazingly powerful thing in the world. You're creating a person! All the great leaders started out as fluttery lumps in someone's stomach, as nutured hopes and dreams. So did the rogues and terrors, the stars and the flops and the normal, everyday people (like us). It's an amazing thing to know that you are growing a person, not a baby. The incredible thing is that it's also so primitive. We make it huge but the most dumb of animals can do it - and must do it. I look at my two and can't believe that they were created so simply. I'm trying to be as careful as possible. It's just really hard to eat anything when you have no appetite and nothing will stay down. My doctor told me in my first pregnancy that the first stage your baby feeds off nutrition stored in your body, so eating a healthy diet isn't as crucial as it is in the 2nd and 3rd trimester. Morgan came out as healthy and big as an ox. She was one ounce shy of 9 lbs and she's never been sick a day in her life.
Not really. Your body is trying to get specific parts (eg, certain nutrients) from the food that it needs. Your brain 'knows' what food (or certain items) contains what, so you start craving for it. My friend's mom is currently pregnant and she was craving brandy and vodka, so she went to the doctor and they discovered that her body was after a certain chemical that is formed when you mix the two. So he has put her on that chemical (i dont know the specifics like were he got the stuff, etc) for the duration of the cravings.
