preferred domain?

    should i set a preferred domain in google?
    www.yoursite.com
    or
    yoursite.com

    how do i go about figuring which one to set it to if i should set it?

    It doesn't matter as long as you stick with the one you choose. It's just a matter of personal preference. If you have a higher PR with one of them, you could go with that.

    Yes, pick one. Good idea to have a 301 redirect for it in your .htaccess as well.

    As mjewel has said, it doesn't matter which one you chose. Even if one has more PR, you can pass it on to the other domain by using 301 redirects. But personally I prefer www.domain.com over domain.com.

    Choosing a preferred domain helps resolve canonical issues, definitely pick one or t'other!

    that depents on you. i think you must choose the same with same format that people are giving link to you. for example if people are giving link to you with sitename.com, you must choose sitename.com.;)

    Exactly. Almost all links to dmoz.org points to dmoz.org and not www.dmoz.org. And they are not using a 301 redirect. So google considers them to be separate domains.

    Pick the one that look more comfortable.Using google webmaster central can solve the problem easily.and it does have a difference.My friend website,amanz.net had a different pagerank.www.amanz.net got PR4 but amanz.net got PR2.:)
