I understand that compressed sitemap s are for really huge websites but is there any draw back with compressed sitemap s ??
Google is supposed to support compressed sitemap s , does bing and yahoo support it ??
I am new to this sitemap stuff. I spent a day creating a supposedly validated sitemap (verified by automatic programs) can someone view it once manually at http://darkwap.mobi/sitemap.xml and tell me if its correct or not (the file is in kbs only).
Any more suggestions most welcome. Thanks!

It doesn't matter at all, whether your sitemap is compressed or not unless you are running out of space.

So a sitemap.xml.gz sitemap will be fine with bing and yahoo ??

i am talking about a .gz (zipped /compressed) sitemap. Its something which huge sites with a large sitemap use. Google supports them but bing and yahoo are quite about them.

Yes, gzipped sitemaps are supported by Google, Yahoo, Bing and other small Search Engines
