orthodox, conservative, fundamentalists [and by other names also] only butcher the meaning of what they proclaim to believe and follow. they concentrate on the tangent obscure laws and interpretation and forgo the main principal of the whole thing. no matter what religion or philosophy.
If you are a man of science, you should know that the proper way to write your quote would be: I'm a man of science myself but I've seen cases where people got healed. MAYBE it was "by the power of the prayer", maybe not. and to clarify if indeed or just maybe, a real experiment is needed. A real experiment appears in the first post of the thread. And the result is crystal clear, and expected: Intercessory Prayer have no Therapeutic Effects in Cardiac Bypass Patients (and might even increase chances for complications: in cases where one is being knowingly prayed for). p.s. It is raining now in Israel. It is the first rain of the year. We have a name for the first and last rains in Hebrew (which also appear in the old testament). I don't remember in my lifetime a first rain in mid september. usually its mid october to mid november... earth is going nuts...
Don't worry, you're not the Quote master either, I meant what I said. They think gods help them when they actually help themselves to overcome mentally. Sort of a Fool fools himself game
Is that your own personal conclusion? So tell me something, what the heck is that got to do with you when you yourself does not believe in God. You see, when you love someone, you do things full heartedly, and the outcome can sometime be unexpected.. That is just the way it's, and no science has ever exactly conclude it why. So similarly to the situation when you put your believe in God, and love him full heartedly. The believe itself can be a cure to many things..
Prayer has been misguided terribly. Jesus and a slew of other prophets set against the religious kings that set up "long prayers" and by that it is meant these enlightened few saw past the nonsense of orating ovations of love and adoration to deities in a ritualistic manner. Jesus tells us to pray in our closet, away from people so that they don't taint us with their religious showmanship and we don't taint them. Very realistically, praying for someone to get better from a disease (psychologically at dis ease) is to help them by being there and giving their Will the strength to continue fighting the illness as well as finding solitude that the physical body they possess is the only part of them that is sick; there is an inner in all that is the same with every piece of matter in existence that is what we truly are, and that is perfect in every way. Do not waste time on your knees praying; that goes against the teachers and founders of every faith and only serves Moloch/Babylon/The kings of this physical world/Ha-Satan. Philosophy is the only true religion; the teachings of the founders put into practice. The only way to pray is to practice what you preach. There is no magic outside of what we do every day; we just need to control it. The Will is extraordinary; it can negate the OVERPOWERING impulse to protect one's life and propagate the species. The Will is all we have, it is the true us. There are many, many, many, many ways to cure an illness; I've flipped through Northwestern University medical books and got very intrigued by some texts on alternative medicine. Beauty in simplicity. Our study of the universe is flawed because the machines we build to study it is flawed; our body is the ultimate science lab and we are alchemists. Work on that Philosopher's Stone, and diseases slip away !
