Minstrel, why would anyone not take SlyOldDog's warnings, after all he is just trying to save us all, I think that photo of him shows that he is wearing a Superman shirt, so I think he is running a competitive ad network along with his buddy "The Honz" who was banned by VS last week. :p :p

This guy just does not realize that you don't come into a man's house and bad mouth him before his own.

That shows a lack of class, but Shawn is showing class by letting him have a voice, if it was me he would not have lasted over two posts, nor his crazy buddies.

    I think that's a "3", not a Superman symbol.

As in Grade 3 -- wear it proudly! :D

No shirt there I promise you :)

I think the moderator is quite capable of deciding if he wants to remove this thread. Is there any reason everyone here wants to be a moderator? I have been polite throughout the thread so I see no need for the personal attacks.

So has anyone heard about Wordpress?

I don't know, all you have done since you got here is attack the work of Shawn saying that it is a pending disaster for the members of the co-op, but then expect members of the co-op and the forum to receive you with kindness.

Why don't you tell us about Wordpress

You're referring to WordPress Under Fire for Search-Engine Spamming:

Again, Dog... what has this got to do with the Coop Ad Network?

Let me save you the trouble of racking your brain about the question: The correct answer is "Nothing at all".

    Go away.

Please show us your websites SlyOldDog, we would like to see what you have to offer.

What do you have to hide from the members here  You keep saying that you want to help all of us do better, show us your sites so we can learn from the best.

I used modern technology to enhance your photo also, I don't know why you posted such a bad photo anyway.

Does this mean all your sites are W3C coded?

    >>what has this got to do with the Coop Ad Network?

Linking out to unrelated content with simple html links. It doesn't take huge IQ to see the connection. I don't need to go over why that might be a problem for the SEs.

Just a message to Digitalpoint. I am in no way disparraging the concept. In fact it's brilliant. I am building my own database link network to link my own sites in a similar manner (without rotation). Of course, only the best sites will get in. Mine :)

The only things I don't like about coop are:

-The more successful it gets the more it will be a target for the SEs
-It makes life too easy for lazy SEOs. How to differentiate yourself from the next guy in the network?

PS: Guys the truth is coming out, as I suspected he is building his own network and that is why he goes around the forum circuit bad mouthing Shawn's work, dude you are a certified numbskull

Apparently it takes a bigger IQ than you have access to, though. Where do you see any hidden links in the Coop Ad Network?

Actually, would you mind going over that? I know it must be such a bore for you, but just to help out us simple-minded country folk could you?

Please explain in detail how the co-op is in violation of this and how the one you are building to link your own network of sites together is so much better

My network is just for me, so I have no motivation in bringing Digitalpoint's down.

I never said mine would not violate the SEs TOS. The difference is I know I am breaking the rules and some people here don't.

Specifially what guidelines the network "bends":

"Avoid tricks intended to improve search engine rankings. A good rule of thumb is whether you'd feel comfortable explaining what you've done to a website that competes with you. Another useful test is to ask, "Does this help my users? Would I do this if search engines didn't exist?"

Don't participate in link schemes designed to increase your site's ranking or PageRank. In particular, avoid links to web spammers or "bad neighborhoods" on the web as your own ranking may be affected adversely by those links."

Just reading some posts on the forum here shows that the scheme does not bring much natural traffic at all. Most new visitors come via search engine ranking improvements. Whtaever it started out as (an ad network), the end result is it is more of, in Google's words "a link scheme"

it's an AD network -- and as long as you're not in it, it's not a bad neighborhood

It's brought me some traffic. And I've clicked on links to and visited some of the sites in the network that sounded interesting...

People can "say" whatever they want on an open forum like you are, that does not mean that it is the truth.

Can you explain what the difference is if I linked to your site by giving you a manual link from my site that increased your PR and helped improve your SERP's versus an automatic link from a legitimate advertising co-op that does the same thing?

PS: Google can see and knows everything on the internet via data mining, how do YOU think your network will fool them?

    >>it's an AD network -- and as long as you're not in it, it's not a bad neighborhood

Well this neighbourhood is not the most friendly I've ever visited :) - but anyhow that was not the part of the guidelines I was picking up on. My point was, whether it's intended as an Ad network or not, it has much more value as a link scheme and that is of course, why people join. Burying one's head in the sand and denying that does not fool anyone, and least of all the search team at Google.

    >>Can you explain what the difference is if I linked to your site by giving you a manual link from my site that increased your PR and helped improve your SERP's versus an automatic link from a legitimate advertising co-op that does the same thing?

None. If your site is unrelated to mine, why would you link to me? Perhaps if I pay, but why would I pay for an unrelated link? Or maybe if I agree to link back to you, but then link exchanges for the sake of SEO are also forbidden. So there is no good reason why you would link to an unrelated site for the sake of your visitors. A SE able to detect themes would determine that a link between your site and mine was part of a link scheme, whether it came from coop or not.

In the old days people linked to whatever they felt like. Worrying about unrelated links sounds more like an SEO concern, doesn't it?

It's an ad network, and it uses php instead of javascript. Big whoop.

SEO benefits are officially the side effect.
