Hi, I saw a very popular site with more than 10M visitors per month and Alexa top 10K and PR8 was selling a link. I suppose they don't know about selling penalty penalty. Its more to their traffic I think. They were selling the a link les than $1K per month. The question is if somebody report their site will they be penalised in Google eventhough they are an authoritative site?
I didn't ask. I checked myself. Its a dofollow. i am thinking of reporting to Google. Lol.. just kidding..heheh
One PR8 backlink gives a new site a huge lift in its own PR... I guess to a PR6 at least. Now this new site could start selling PR6 backlinks to anyone else at about $100 a month , 20 backlinks and its a nice litte profit....
Lol.. you really are a link seller So biz minded yet too simple. If it was me to decide I would use the link to boost my site (must be related to that site niche) SERP and get more traffic using that link. Then I'll use the traffic coming to my site to convert more visitors
Would it really lift it that much? I think that searchengines would notice such a random link from a high PR site and automatically nerf/sandbox that link?
Yup, should be relevant or local market. If your selling burger in the US and bought a PR9 herb Chinese link then most probably Google will ignore it I say it depends on your luck too.
It also depends if the link is placed on the homepage or any inner page with PR8. If its frequently visited site by lots of visitors and good alexa rank, that means all the pages are ranked very high in google. I dont think google will so easily de-index all the pages for just one link. There are so many news sites, who do have other site's links and banners/advertisement, as they need to survive too to run their business.
A PR8 link will have great value as long as it is in the same niche. Even if it's not in the same niche, a PR8 link can really help you out, as long as it's not like a total opposite niche. I'd take it for sure.
lot of people selling links. i dont think its wrong in any way. with that kind kind of traffic they can care less about Google I guess. Google need them as much as they need google.
A PageRank 8 site is worth for sure more than 10k $. You can sell links, but if you don`t post url in thread, google haven`t how to know if you`re really sell links, or someone want to hurt your buisness, and you site. Sell in peace!
Nah, are you kidding. It surely can't be more than $1K value per month. Also people please stop PMing me to get the url. Its not good for your site's health. And no its not my site or anysite that I have connection with. Its just worth discussing here. Though as some people said probably Google will overlook them selling links though we have a case before with statcounter.com selling links at their main site which was a PR10 and they got penalized to a PR4. StatCounter.com asked for a reconsideration as they changed the links to nofollow and Google ever since then did not give total faith in them and they are now stucked with a PR8
I run a PR8 website with good traffic too - and don't see why GOOD, QUALITY outgoing links are THAT big an issue? If you want to sell link, sell links to quality, relevant sites - and I'm sure Google won't be angry
Any site can be penalised by Google if they are doing wrong, but it would be hard for them to tell tbh.
Mm; I actually beg to differ- I don't think Google 'needs' us, especially if all we're going to contribute to is spam and 'gamed' websites. Google needs users- and users generally want to find the most relevant website (aka. non-gamed sites?).
You have to take into account that each link going out from this site makes the PR passed along less and less. I don't see a reason to report. If they don't say anything like "Buy our link and Google will be tricked into ranking you high" you can assume they're selling it as selling advertising space.
