A couple of weeks ago I posted some info regarding PR8 links I wanted to sell. I am new to this game and decided to give it a go having run some of my sites through a text link ad calculator ( I have some PR8 and PR9 pages). The figure looked good, so I tried to sell but got no takers. So, humour me. No, make that 'educate me' (if you would be so kind!). Here's the original PR8 ad. - Did I get no takers because the site traffic/Alexa rating was poo? - Was the price too high (and if so, is the text link ad calculator misleading)? - Was there some other reason why there were no takers? I'd really appreciate any comments to explain why it wasn't successful. I am new to this (selling links, not the web) and would appreciate a little honesty. But I'd appreciate a sale even more ;-)
The text link calculator gives you a price that you can probably expect to pay if you were purchasing the link from a link broker. Not sure how many links they'll sell at those prices. Some look at other variables as well. Total outbound links, location, strength of the PR - is it a weak or strong PR8? How many pages are indexed? Without the URL it's hard to judge a fair price. On some sites (PR8) I've paid $300/3mos and on others a bit more. If you'd like to PM the url I'll take a look and maybe make an offer - who knows, you might even make a sale.
Ah, sorry. I'll PM you the page. I have no idea how that page looks to you (strong/weak? I only know how that applies to cups of tea!) - like I said, I went by the calculator and got somewhat enthusiastic! So, if the site is poor because of the limited number of pages or incoming links, then fine - please do say if that's the cause. I would like to learn more about it, good or bad! Thanks
Normally you have to divide by 2 the value of the link calculator. pm me the url and total number of external links you are going to have.
I usually find it helpful to use the page strength tool at Seomoz to get a couple of good selling points when you set up a sales thread. Customers are more inclined to pay a higher price if your site comes with a lot of respected incoming links (.gov, .edu, Wikipedia and Dmoz, for instance). The Seomoz tool will give you this info for your site.
