PR6 on home page, no PR anywhere else... scam?

I have been trying to buy links for my site. Some webmasters have offered to sell me positions on their "PR6" or "PR4" or whatever sites. I take a look at their home page, and sure enough, it is the PR they say it is. However, all their other pages have PR0 or PRNA, even though they are all linked to from the home page with do-follow links.

What is going on here? How do people give fake pagerank and how would I go about seeing through their fake pagerank?

maybe fake or maybe those pages has no pr while other pages have, you need to look at other pages and see if there is a pr over there, if not you need to look the back links on google for that website, perhaps it is fake pr.

Maybe those other pages was made after google did the PR update? Therefore they wont have a pagerank.

You really should not buy links in the first place. At any rate, I would do some niche specific blog commmenting and get your links that way. They are much more useful.

    hope that helps,
    Nigel

Use common sense, look up the backlinks and check its Google rankings. Just because it doesn't have an inner pagerank does not mean its fake.
Many yahoo directory pages have a PR N/A although the homepage is a very powerful PR8

If the homepage is PR6 and no other pages have PR my best bet is to say that they have picked up an expiring domain with PageRank and slapped up a new site. Any established site with a high PR will have passed PR to other pages, I have a few PR4 sites and most if not all sub pages are PR3. Any site with high PR on the homepage and no PR anywhere else should be viewed as suspect and it may well loose all its PR on a subsequent update.

thats exactly what I am fearing. Its just an outdated PR and will be reduced to nothing next update.

Maybe what he did is extensive link building in his home page but not in his other subpages. Go look at the external link of his subpages.

The "juice" should flow over all pages so if the homepage is PR6 I would say that the other main pages would have at least a pagerank of 2. This is because if they have so many links coming into the homepage they probably have a few other pages linked. They of course already have a PR6 link coming into them from the homepage so there is no way they would be a PR of 0. I would check the backlinks as said above and also check the PR with many different PR websites.

Agreed - I'd be very suspicious of a PR6 domain where none of the other pages have rank. not saying it is impossible, just that it strikes me as strange.

    Buyer beware, I guess.

the most easiest way to check would be the backlink profile of the domain and checking it on the wayback machine archive.

I think it just comes down to common sense. If the site isn't topically relevant or has little content of value, chances are it will lose its Page Rank next time it gets indexed. Here is a tool you can use to verify pagerank, though, if you're interested:

this is nothing not all pages got page rank if some website have page rank 6 on home page this is not that they have pr 6 on all pages it's just a authority by google so it's not happen to get same page rank on all pages.

Yep this is what I would suspect too, but it's not to say that the site would loose it's pagerank at the next update. I have picked up expired domains before and they generally keep their pagerank as long as the backlinks are still in place.
