Seeing as I didnt sell the site before and never really put it up for auction I have decided to auction www.indictionary.com off now to the highest bidder through Ebay, there has already been one bid so no BIN, the auction will run it's course, highest bidder will win, just posting it here for info if anyone was interested in it.

I posted here on DP last week for offers over $3000, no real BIN in mind, I needed it for the COOP for a project which paid for itself many times over so now I have no need for it.

I think I bough it for around $3.5k [edit] bought it for $3200[/edit ]in June when it had no PR on sitepoint, can't remember the exact price to be fair but it was something like that.

I have had many requests as to whether I would sell the script/DB and I guess there would be a few bucks to be made that way but it doesnt interest me, I bought it for a test and used the coop on it to make around $8k in 3 months and lure a client which worked and I am now working with on a brand new project, it has served its purpose for me and for what I wanted.

There are now 20 "watchers" who have it on their watch list and no reserve with one bid so it will be sold to the highest bidder on ebay, remember the auction is in GBP £ and not USD.

Thanks for the comments and PM's on it.

As changable as the wind Peter.
    Today 15,233
    High 50k
    Low 10k
    Tomorrow ?

When I bought it, it did have 1 million pages in google, it dropped to 70k pages within 2 weeks and after a few weeks of work it went back up to 800,000 page and continued on a rollercoaster of averaging 200k. Not API figures!
COOP weight averaged around 20-30k when I paid attention to it.

I have not worked on it at all for a month or so, I am finished with the site/domain.

This seems like a good deal at current bidding on ebay. I'll be watching this with interest.

Sold, Ebay seems to be good for sites like this.

The fact that I have had 2 emails since from people who's screen froze as they tried to bid $6000 & $6400 is annoying but life.

I think if I was selling a site in the future Ebay may be more beneficial than selling on forums to get a higher price.

    Hi,

I am interested in buying your site. I want to pay USD 1500,- for it and we can close a deal today if you like. Is it possible to speed up your hosting account at the same provider? (it is indeed really slow...)

If you are interested, please contact me at beukie [at] gmail dot com

    Regards,

    Johan

Ebay is the perfect place for a real auction. And a fair auction. Trouble is that there is so much junk on offer that I can't be bothered sifting through it all to find a 'real' site. I guess if you list there and post a site's availability on this and other forums then that gets our attention.

Lots of the so-called auctions on digital point and run so badly that you have to be lucky to be online when the action's on or you miss out. Eager site sellers often sell too quickly and site sellers 'testing the water' so to speak end up not selling at all because the sale price expectation is not clear to a potential buyer.

Perhaps Shawn could create a DP marketplace with fixed selling rules and an auction option with set finishing times. Then maintain forum sector just for sites listed for genuine sale.

That would beat having to go to ebay and make DP a killer forum.

If your looking for sites on ebay, find the category and then change the search to by price highest first, scroll past the million dollar crap and start analysing from there.

Ebay will always be better than DP IMO as it offers the techie people a chance of a good site and the non-techies a chance of getting carried away thus driving the price up, on DP the market values the site rather more quickly and on ebay if you have the right criteria you can create a feeding frenzy, but if its shite then aye ebay is full of it.

I am in the market for an established website (no adult or gambling). I have been looking on ebay for about 6 months and agree with comment by "Rod" that there is simply to many junk websites on ebay and I have become frustrated. I have only just discovered DigitalPoint and hope that I can finally find a suitable site to purchase.

I am looking to purchase an established website that is already making a small income ($100 to $500 per month).

Hopefully I will not have to wait another 6 months!

DOes anyone know any other places to purchase legit sites?
