Things to know: The Site is a directory, but it's very nicely kept The site is about the same content as mine Homepage is PR6, webmaster says I can buy advertisements on other pages (pr5) for $25/year Link isn't no-follow Here is my questions: Since this is a directory will that lower the overall back link juice? I already have a 2-way link exchange with site, will this hurt me/lower impact? That's my questions, I think I'm going to go ahead with the deal, I just wanted your guys options first. Thanks, Ty
no its not good deal you better is you can you your permanent links on directory submission bcz directory link rate is very low like $ or 3$ and $2
Well thats the thing I already agreed to do a 2-way link exchange (my PR0 with his PR4). I don't want to post the site up here, but the webmaster really does keep a pretty good job taking care of it, there is probably only about 100 links.
If the directory has a manual editorial of the links before accepting it. Google will give value on the links in that directory but if the directory accept automatically the links that are submitted to them just because it was paid I think it has an value.
The directory is definitely manually edited, the webmaster even includes little flags from what country the website is.
Since this is a directory will that lower the overall back link juice? I think that the fact that this is a directory will in no way decrease the link juice. If of course you are going to buy a permanent link for example on a category page in one click from the home page and not a simple listing. The problem of directories is that when you submit your site, at first it appears on the top of the category and as new sites appear your link goes down and one day google will simply not find it. I already have a 2-way link exchange with site, will this hurt me/lower impact? I would not buy a link from a domain where I already have a link. 2 domains 2 links is better than 1 domain 2 links
Just today I submitted my site to a PR5 directory and was already accepted and added for free. So, I think you should keep your money.
Hey wondercorn, kenn probably ment profile links in general... Like profile links offered in Angela's and Paul's backlink packages. You can of course just scrape them yourself if you have the right tools.
It is hard to say if it's worth or not until I see the website url myself. There are a lot of factors to judge on link value and not solely based on PR of course. You have to find your own metrics to judge it since anyone has their own definition.
Remove the two way link and have one way link in normal listing or max featured listing. there is no use of advertising on directories until it has traffic of your audiences.
Pr 5 link Good - But paying $25 + exchange no Good. There are many other directories with an affordable price around.
if you are already exchanging links with the site, then you should keep your money and go with the link exchange. google does discount links gained form link exchanges but if you do a few link exchanges, it will not hurt and will be hard to detect. aside form that, $25 per year for a link on a PR6 site with PR5 inner page is a good deal. just check to make sure its a legit site and not a directory developed on a dropped domain. check the whois to see how many times the DNS has changed since registration. also check the wayback machine for archived screenshot to make sure the site was a directory to begin with and not some dropped domain quickly converted to directory
