PR5 entertainment blog making only USD$2 per day in Adsense, NEED ADVICE!

I have a blog hosted by Google (blogspot) and is related to Asian films.

Currently there are over 900 posts and making average USD$2+ per day on Adsense.

Only recently promoted from PR4 to PR5 but Adsense income remains low.

My goal for 2010 is to make over USD$100 per month, that means over USD$3.30 per day.

Daily traffic is around 500-600 visitors, mostly from South East Asia countries and some from USA, Canada and UK.

    Below are my questions:

    1. Is it entertainment niche paid the lowest in Adsense? I rarely gets over USD$1 per click. Mostly the CPC is around USD$0.05 and sometimes even less.

    2. Should I write a new niche that pays more? The blog has existed for 3 years and I get frustrated not able to increase the earnings.

Any advice will be appreciated, thanks.

    This is my blog URL

I have said it before and i will say it again your problem is not your nich it is your AD placement try mixing it up blend your ads. When i opened your page the first thing i wonted to do was click the back button. The first thing i see is ads i had to scroll down quite a ways before i could even see the content of your blog this will send a lot of visitors away. Also spread your ads out you dont wont your visitors knowing they are clicking on ads

Well i hope my two cents helps GOOD LUCK :)

I agree with MasterWallpapers. You need to fix the theme as well as your ad placement. There are many free Blogger templates out there specifically for movie niches that you can use to make your site more attractive. The ads doesn't blend so well with the title, the content, and the navigation, making it less desirable for visitors to click on them.

Agreed. You need to do something about the presentation of your blog. It looks far too simple. I know you don't have much flexibility with blogspot, but you've got to do something about the 'look'. Also where is the content? The first thing I saw on your site was loads and loads of ads. It took me ages to get to anything resembling real content. Visitors in general will be put off by this.

You use nearly all your allocated AdSense ads quota in the first 1/3 of the page. You need better ad placement. You have to spread out your ads a bit more.

    Good luck.

I must admit I'm not a professional website designer, therefore my site look plain and simple. Finding a free template is a headache as there were too many to choose from and I don't like any one of them. Even if I like it is hosted under wordpress but blogger and wordpress aren't compatible with one another.

And regarding the ads I'm just fulfilling Google TOS, three ads and three text links to maximize my adsense earnings. I used to have only two ads and one text link per page and I earnt even much lesser than I am today. Another option is to upgrade my classic blogger to xml template which is very new to me and I don't want to spoil my site as I have zero knowledge about xml code.

Thanks for the advice guys, due to limited knowledge of website design I guess everything is limited for me to improve.

Then use something like this theme (http://btemplates.com/2009/09/24/bloggertube/), and since this is an XML template, you can just drag and drop your AdSense to where you want it to be. If you don't want to mess with your live site, create another blog for testing and play around with the themes there.

Use fixed width blogger template that will help you a lot to increase CTR, at the moment its looking completely messed up.

You got good PR and traffic. Just need to redesign your blog and blank the ads. I believe you can get more click and revenue. Try to look for some good blog and change your theme.

I think your problem lies in your traffic. SE traffic has a very low CPC. Few thing you can do to increase your CTR / overall Earnings :

    - Top two ad blocks (336x250) should be removed and only one should be placed immediately after post title.
    - In your sidebar where you have monthly archives, add a 160x600 or 180x600 ad unit.
    - Add a horizontal link unit just after your header ( before your google search box)

    I hope this helps.

One more advice. Get a better template. There are thousands of free blogger templates out there, select one that best fits your content and can also accommodate a few adverts as well.

Entertainment niche is one of the lowest paying niches out there, I am not surprised you are making so little. So you either need a lot more traffic, or time to target a different niche. I would go to Google's external keyword tool and enter in some values. See what you get, look for niches which earn $5 or more, if you can write good solid content on them then you will need much less traffic to make more than what you are making at the moment.

Took ages to load up ads do not match your colour scheme plus when i log on all i see is those big ads try using links ads instead remove some text ads from your site, people are looking for information on your blog will just by pass your ads because no blending, change colours to suit your blog theme remove a side bar and show less ads on home page maybe ad a 160 to right sidebar and remove the 360 from homepage.

Thanks for a frank comment. When I first started with Adsense I never thought about keyword pricing. If my blog is non-entertainment niche I should be making over USD$300 every month with 500-600 daily visitors right now. What I would do is try to find other profitable niche and write a good article about it.
