PR4 Wedding Website For Sale: Potential for e-Commerce; CMS system

Discussion in 'Sites' started by mark1, Feb 8, 2006.

I've finally decided to throw in the towel for this domain. I've lost passion for it - maybe it has to do with my gender and my marital status ;)

This domain has so much potential - I've put a fair amount of work on it, doing the themeing, integrating the CMS together which is GPL - and has an active group of webmasters and programmers constantly making new functionalities with it.

If you have a wedding store - this would be a strategic purchase for your website. If you are thinking of opening an e-store - this CMS has e-commerce capabilties. The CMS also makes updating the website - adding articles, changing layouts a breeze.

I had someone writing articles for the website - these could be viewed in ezinearticles + goarticles.

I don't know how much it is worth but it is PR4 and has a decent Alexa ranking.
    http://www.alexa.com/data/details/?url=www.betterweddingideas.com
    http://www.iwebtool.com/www.betterweddingideas.com

This graph is actually a pretty good marker of how much traffic I got in the past three months. - Notice the dip - that's when I realised that this website isn't really for me... and I stopped updating the website.

I noticed that if you post at least once a day on the site and/or to article websites the site will receive 100+ pageviews a day (According to Adsense).

The stage of the ladder this website is this:
For 2-3 weeks it was earning cents in adsense
then it started hitting the $1 mark daily every so often.
Then it spiked on one day to $5 after writing a few articles.
then now - its back to earning a few cents a day since i'm not updating it.

    Website:
    betterweddingideas.com

My main selling point here is the system setup. The CMS (Drupal) is search-engine friendly - didn't need to wait long in the sandbox. The system is easy configurable - themes are a challenge at first, but there are plenty of free ones out there to emulate if you wish. You can easily add on a store if you want to drop ship or even carry your own product line. The CMS has an active community to help out in any problems you have - they also provide security updates and additional functions and extras.

Let's start the bidding @ USD$50. (There is a reserve price)

I'm not going to sell copies of this website - and is a one time offer.

    Serious offers only please.

Wow guys, I 'm surprised by the response.

I haven't sold a website before so I guess I'll end the website bidding on my luckiest day of the year - the day I found a $100 note on the way to school. (Yes I celebrate it every year) See Below - which gives it two weeks.

Wow, people are asking me if I had a BIN price - im such a N00b that I had to look it up and find out it was the Buy It Now price :p

I have no BIN in mind - I don't know how to price the website, and I don't know how much my work is worth. But I'm prepared to let it go so the website can grow - I hope the website ends up with someone who wants to really build it.

    Thanks

I know it is your lucky day and all, but just a suggestion, end it earlier. I am interested in the site, but I won't be after a 2 week auction, and I doubt many others here will be either. Just about anyone who may be interested in the site will see it in the next 24 hours. End it in 48 hours, 72 hours, whatever, but not 2 weeks.

thanks mouseketrips... Actually after thinking about it... If i am to let it go - i shouldn't prolong the "mourning period" hehe...

I really wanted this website to succeed so I have some emotional attachment to it ;P hehe

    Auction end time
Ok then, let it be 72 hours or around abouts. I live in Sydney - so let it finish 12pm (noon) on Saturday our time. And 5pm Los Angeles Time (Friday)

Ok, let me do a little selling while I'm here.
The website has so many possibilities and there are plenty of add-ons that you can install (some are already installed but not activated)...

    * You can easily customise colours for your adsense form one page - you just have to code in groups as well as channels into your theme (PHP)
    * Theming is a breeze. This website is 100% CSS - EASY!
    * You've got the support network Drupal offers
    * It has a dynamic google sitemap created by the system
    * It has "nice urls" which is SEO friendly
    * It has newsletter lists capabilities
    * Users can log in and blog about their wedding.
    * because users can do the above there are access levels and control - good if you have editors employed
    * It has a banner program - where you can sell website ad space and track clickthrus - and advertisers can login and check their stats
    * It has a click forwarding app - say you want to redirect someone to a site, but you want to track the outclicks to that page or site - that could be done also. (ie, i want to track how many people want to go to google from thie link I put - register the link and use that referral forwarder)
    * it has forum capabilities
    * it has a dynamic rss feed
    * it has syndication capabilities - you can syndicate any RSS feed anywhere! - keeps your website updated
    * Dynamic sitemenu

    * If you go to my blog:
    http://blog.photos2view.com/marco/random-stuff/dc-marketing-scam
You will notice you can add Delicios + digg likn easily for users to click (and a technorati search)
    * Auto ping function to ping sites about your updated site
    * You can add "email to friend link" and a "print this page link"
    * it can do polls
    * did I mention it has a shopping cart ability?
    * it has a strong taxonomy base
    * Whatever this website can do:
www.semanticbay.com it can do it too
I have a showcase of websites made by drupal to show you what else thant can be done (heaps!)
    http://blog.photos2view.com/marco/the-internet/drupal/drupal-websites/a-showcase-of-drupal-websites

I will leave the inbound links (that I have control over) to this website.

When this website sells - I'll transfer this website to your servers - remember it requires this:
    http://drupal.org/node/270

I host on MediaTemple - so if you're with them, it will work for you. As part of the sales deal, I'll set up the website on your server.

I have a question - is it good to have a BIN price?

If it is - then how do I decide what it is?

Is the BIN price simply a dream $ amount at which I want to sell the site?

Do you have any traffic logs at all? I'd be interested to know what kind of keywords you are turning up for, and for what search engines. Thanks.

Yes u have traffic Logs but only I have access to it.

I'll take a few screenshots of it.

    See attachments.

This is a portion of the stats you get in the LOGS of the CMS system. It gives you an idea of where the visitors come from. Asi you can See they're from a variety of places.

    I have a bid for $150

I was thinking about my BIN - I think my dream amount for BIN would be $555 considering number of hours worked and plus the additional work i'm going to do to make sure the site works on your end - and to sweeten the deal - i'll help you out for the first week - in the design and web marketing strategy (within reasonable restraints).

Sorry No... but to give you an idea its just a variety of wedding keywords (haha obviously :D ). If I reveal them here don't you think competitors will get the hint and start taking your keywords?

As I said above, thats all the info I had - the alexa tracking and the pageviews stats from adsense. Looking back, I know I should have counted uniques - but what can I do? As I said, Traffic was slowly growing but I lost my passion for it. All you've got to do is put a bit of work on it consistently everyday or every second day. about an hour just updating articles and linking it and submitting.

No, its me posting stories. I do a news search for weddings, quickly rewrite the news and I post it up. simple.

you said this in post "It has a banner program - where you can sell website ad space and track clickthrus - and advertisers can login and check their stats"
Is there different places where you can put banners,ie,script is setup for just header or footer, put code and thats where it shows up?
