Hi all, I am selling the Proxy Dragon Network of 11 web proxies. The network is very established within the web-proxy community and we have a lot of loyal users as well as a constant stream of new users daily. I started the Proxy Dragon network in October 2006 and they have grown steadily ever since. There are 5 PHP Proxies and 6 CGI proxies.

All other proxies have a PR 3 and average between 80 – 150 uniques a day each.
The Entire network averages over 100,000 uniques a month and millions of page views.

Proxy Dragon Network Info

Proxy Dragon is one of the more popular of the proxies in the network. This is mainly because all past advertising has been based around the “Proxy Dragon” branding. For the first 2 or 3 months I paid $250 per/month top 10 listing on proxy.org for proxydragon.com which kick started the network very well. I paid $20 per/month bold listings for proxy-demon.com and myspaceprox.com. I have stopped paying for advertising on proxy.org and the network still continues strongly. There is no other paid advertising.

Proxy-demon.com and MySpaceProx.com are both popular proxies as well. MySpaceProx.com is popular with myspace users that either want to unblock myspace or hide their surfing of myspace profiles. Myspaceprox.com has only had $20 bolded listings on proxy.org for a couple of months but due to the domain name and links from proxydragon it is becoming popular and climbing the search engines quickly. It is only 2 months old and already on page 2 of google for the search term “Unblock MySpace”.

I set up Proxy Articles on proxydragon.com to help build SEO rank and presence and the majority of these articles are indexed on google as seen below. I try to add new articles on a weekly basis but sometimes its every 10 - 14 days. These articles are being indexed by google as seen below.

All Domains are registered for 2 years through Godaddy and is a free push to your GoDaddy account.

Traffic Stats

The Entire network averages about 100,000 uniques a month.
In January it used about 1400GB of data traffic.

Please find webalizer traffic stats for the 3 main proxies below. I had problems with the stats on the server for the first month and they got wiped for some reason. The hosting company just shrugged their shoulders, typical. Then occasionally the stats don’t seem to update in webalizer probably, you will see a few days with 0 visitors when it isn’t actually the case.

Let me also state that for the past 5 days I have had to remove the ability to surf because the server almost reached its max 1400GB bandwidth for the month and at .50c per GB extra and the sites using close to 50GB a day it was going to cost too much. That’s also why the stats are down slightly for the last 5 days or so.

The proxies are currently on a dedicated server which a friend owns so I’m not paying for hosting. Because of the amount of data traffic it uses he wants them removed. There are some pretty good shared hosting plans out there that would cater for the 11 domains and data traffic easily. The following would be a good choice with heaps of bandwidth and excellent price.

Revenue

The Proxy Dragon networks makes around $170 - $300 per month on Adsense. It also made $37 in December through Click Booth Ads. I have tried host gator affiliate program for January but had no sales. Targeting the wrong product to the end user demographic I guess.

Let me state though that because I had to remove the ability to surf on the proxies for the last 5 days of January (See traffic section for reason) the adsense CTR on the proxy entry pages when from about 1% to close to 10% which increased adsense revenue a lot. You can probably take off about $50 from the total adsense revenue of January because of this.

I am a database developer and to be honest I have no idea how to market websites. If you know how to market websites, the proxies will become very popular and widely known in the proxy community which they are already starting to. I have built a great base from which someone can further develop and market the proxies into something huge.

Unfortunately 2 of the proxies (proxy-247.com & proxypathway.com) are band by adsense because in the first month had google ads on proxified pages unknowingly against their TOS. They band the 2 sites but not my account or other proxies. They were band on the 18th Nov 2006 and after removing the ads from all other proxies on proxified pages have had no problem with google (You can see the reduced amount of impressions in the November adsense stats. The 2 proxies are no where near as popular as the 3 main ones so revenue was not harmed by much. You could probably get the sites reinstated with google, I just haven’t bothered to try yet.

Other potential revenue steams would be selling links on the home page of the proxies. With a PR4 on proxydragon.com, PR3 on all other proxies and predicted PR5’s on 3 proxies it could potentially do very well as additional revenue. Sell 20 links for $15 a month… that’s $300 per month additional.

I am not selling the proxies individually at this stage. They have strong presence and rank because of the back linking each site has with one another and are much stronger as a network.

1.) Well firstly they need to be moved because they use all of his data traffic. Secondly I was planning on selling them anyway because I would rather give someone else the opportunity to further them as I have other project interests at the moment. If I kept them I wouldn't spend any time on them which would be a shame.

2. The top ten proxy.org listing for $250 p/m ended on 20th Dec 06. The $20 bold listing on proxy-demon and myspaceprox ended around the same time.

 

Marx, at this stage I wont sell PHP separately from CGI, mainly because they work better as a network and I would prefer to sell them as a whole. I may consider it if my reserve is not reached. Ta

where abouts do you have your Adsense boxes on these sites? visited Myspace prox and proxydragon and I'm not seeing them. Also re hosting, take it you've got these on your own box, are you looking for someone to take the sites, or can you transfer the box

The Google AdSense Ads are displayed on the index page of each of the proxies. You should see the ads above and below the browse field at this link for example... http://www.proxydragon.com/.

Regarding hosting, the proxies are currently on a friends dedicated server but because of the amount of bandwidth they use he wants them removed. You can either purchase a dedicated server and place them on there or for a much cheaper option, you can put them on a shared hosting plan... something like the following would be perfect. http://www.ixwebhosting.com/index.php/v2/pages.planUnlimitedPro. So to answer your question, unfortunately I can't just transfer the server. I am more then happy to help you transfer the proxies to another host, thats not a problem at all.

 

I seriously doubt you can place 11 proxies including 6 cgi proxies on shared hosting, you will need a dedi or at very least a vps, to run a few cgi's it recommended to have at least about 2GB

 

I have decided to end this auction in 48 hours. The proxies need to be taken off the existing server and therefore need to be sold. Current highest bid is $1000 by Marx… if his bid is not beaten they will be sold at that price which is an absolute steal.

I actually added a new row of AdSense ads above the browse field which seems to have a big difference to CTR. & as a result for the first 3 days of Feb the proxies have already made $70.72. If you average this out over the month its looking more like $500 - $600 as apposed to the $230 I stated originally.

There is just over 6 hours left in this auction.
