Ton of no-follow tags on mainpage for subcats? What's the deal?

You definately just lost an impulse buy, fairly misleading just have them as non-links.

 

That's so each category has even PR. All the top categories are linked just fine and then they are all linked to from there.

It's to keep the pagerank even, that's all. It's not mid-leading at all.

Well with all due respect it is misleading.

I submit to "jewelry" which is right there a subcat on the mainpage. This is VERY important to me when looking at directories. I'm not alone. If I was on a browser that didn't show it automatically I would have purchased something that I was mislead into thinking was a better buy.
