Why don't you just take this example:

    PR0 : http://www.mysimon.com/9015-10946_8-31100846.html
    PR5 : http://www.jcpenney.com/products/C09452.jsp

In the above example, PR0 is ranking higher than PR5 in the SERPs. Use "top tennis shoes" to search in Google.

    "top tennis shoes"

    Is this guy serious?

In his example PR5 JcPenny ranks #37
    MySimon PR0 ranks #46

In this example the PR5 wins.

The reason your example is useless as an answer and has nothing to do with your problem:

    a. neither one of these sites probably ever get a hit for that term.
    b. it is very clear that this term is not targeted by either site.
    c. google trends does not even show enough search volume for this term to produce a graph on it.
    d. the pages only show on this result because the three terms requested appear somewhere on the page (neither of which are on the title or URL of the page)
    e. there are only 23,300 pages with the exact match of "top tennis shoes" and neither of these pages rank in the top 100.

Do you get the idea yet. You want help? This is the forum for help. I want to help you.

Each situation is different and unique. Each primary search engine is different and unique. We can tell you what needs to be done if we know your situiation.

Why are we (Me) wasting our time with this. It is like asking the answer to the equation:
    x+x=y

and nobody can tell you Y without the variables to the equation.

It could be couple of reasons.
More specific site to the key phrase you are competing, better on page optimization or simply put better and more specific content!
It could also have some strong links but toolbar PR not yet updated.

i think you can not compare them because google serp has over 200 criterias.

you are writing about for only one of them:)

Page Rank is a good factor on serps, but its not all of it. Content relevance plays a major role on this which also includes how you optimized the site.

the pr0 link has more backlinks, so many pr8 and pr7, where the pr5 link u gave has less backlinks, and less high pr backlinks. in next update that pr0 will become pr6 at least.

PR is one of the factors that influences SERP, I dont know why people are saying PR is not related to SERPs. Its true High PR can have low SERP and other way around, But I think PR is always a one of the factor for SERP

Hi, I will monitor those two links and will compare it with my case. Can a site really jumped from PR0 directly to PR6?

Thanks for taking some time to check.

Yes it can. I saw a new site going from PR0 to PR6 from January to April (within one PR update period). But that exact site had no SERPs for any term at the time it got PR6. SERPs were improved only later when site got good content.

You can have high SERPs with low PR.
You can get low or no SERPs with high PR.

But as I said, it is really not a time to make these conclusions now, when Google toolbar hasn't updated PR for 5 months. It will be the time after PR update to evaluate the influence of PR on SERPs (still difficult with so many factors, though).

yes, why not, so many pr8 can make that.

    No problem.

exactly, i have a website which has original premium content, and it started to get traffic from Google right after indexed (which happened in two weeks of adding new content everyday, mean setting wordpress to do so).

I'm assuming that you went higher in the SERPs after the index which caused the corresponding increase in traffic. But what about the PR? Did it go up eventually? If yes, after how long from the time it got indexed before the PR got updated?
