PR0 after >3 months, 430 yahoo backlinks?

Hi there, I've got a site and it's pagerank 0 after being up for more than 3 months, and here's its stats:

    Incoming Google Links: 0
    Incoming Yahoo Links: 430
    Incoming MSN Links: 0
    Incoming Alexa Links: 0

I paid for manual directory submission - it seems google aren't counting them at all, not even for pagerank? I am actually in the index as I can find my site by using certain search terms. Does this make sense? Do I need to start buying decent PR links in order to rise up? It's a shopping cart site, I was assuming putting a blog on it as well would help.

    Any thoughts?

Google is not showing all backlinks using the link: command.
The best is to check the google webmaster tool for your backlinks.

For your PR you indeed have to wait for the next PR update (is every 3-4 months)

Google does not show any links to my site either using the link:www. search, but under the webmaster tools it does...

I would just wait until the pagerank update is done, and as Amator said, the Google Webmaster tools is the best place to start to find out your links.

I can get the site to come up in search results, sometimes I have to go quite a few pages back but it does come up. In the google webmaster tools it seems to say I've got 45 backlinks, but link: gives nothing. I thought the PR update had already happened, or is it still due to complete over the next few days? Like I said the site has had backlinks since May so I'd expect to have it updated in this PR update rather than the next one.

    Concentrate on Rankings

PR is just a f... number nothing more

And to nswer your question Google doesn't show many backlinks (they didn't yet have a backlink update) and PR wasn't updated in the past 3 months

google doesn't show the true number of backlinks that you have....but you can be certain that if Yahoo finds the links, then google does too

I'm thinking the best way of giving this a boost is start a related blog and start writing informative stuff about the kind of products sold. If the information is of a high enough standard hopefully it will start dialog with other bloggers and the backlinks will come...

    Thanks for all the help.

You should take into consideration that Yahoo shows link with the nofollow parameter. That’s why number of Yahoo’s backward links is not always explanatory.

Aah that's also relevant, hadn't thought about that; I'd just assumed google excluded backlinks of a certain PR when queried with link:.

Yahoo is essentially showing you the same data they work with internally, Google is not. When Google does a backlink or PR update all you're seeing is a snapshot or an approximation of a portion of their data from about 90 days ago.

The toolbar is a tease tool. Backlink updates and PR updates are there only to keep the toolbar installed on people computers.. The toolbar's primary purpose is to help Google collect data. That's why PR and backlinks are only updated a few times per year.. Google is never going to give you real backlink counts, and they are not going to devote much in the way of resources to something that really has nothing to do with what they use internally. It's there to keep people interested enough to want to keep the toolbar installed.

Yahoo takes anything as a backlink. Every comment on a wordpress blog, it will count it. Every post with your site in your sig, it will count it. It is sad but kind of funny.

put your site in your signature (when you can do it) helps too. or just do some links exchange here in exchange section also a good idea.
