I've been reading a lot on these forums but now decided to register and make a post. I don't understand the Page Rank scale very well. One of my sites is listed as Page Rank 4. What exactly does this mean, and is that good or not?

A website's Page Rank can be anything between 0-10 with 10 being the highest. It's difficult to explain exactly what Google means when it talks about PageRank but PR roughly indicates how popular a website. The higher the PR, the more popular the website is. You can read more about it here.

But never forget that PR is meaningless. My 10y/o site has been and still is PR0. It has been advertized, but not much. Recently, I made a file ( www.mysite.com/myfile/index.php ) where I test some little PHP codes time to time. No advertising whatsoever, no links, no nothing...and guess what happened after 3 days? PR3
PR3 for that inner page. Homepage is still PR0.

The only thing good about PR is that if you ever sale the site, you can get more $$ for a higher PR site...other than that, unless you have a directory, no one really cares...if you have a high PR directory, you can make some cash by making people pay for links.

    pr means page rank.
this is google's calculation of the importance of your page.

if you have pr4, that means you are doing all right, try to have pr5, that will be nice.
pr6 and pr7 are very tough to get, some people in this forum has that. pr8 is almost impossible, and pr9 only a few website has.
pr10 is the maximum, and google and blogger has pr10.

anyways, the more the pr the better it is. just add new and unique contents to your website, try to get backlinks from higher pr website etc, and you will increase your pr further:)
