Hi Ladies & Gents Just dusted off this domain redseadivingcenter dot com and was surprised to find a PR3 on the toolbar, how does a domain get PR with no links, and no traffic!?
dont get surprised and say thanks to google bcoz most of the seo having misunderstanding that back links and rankign will increase pr but fact is google loves old domain and website which have worked as per google algo.
@kothar ahh didnt think of that it was 301'd to another blog of mine which also has a pr3, does that mean now i can get a pr6 for the other domain @kumbhdesign it's still amazing how that green bar can bring a smile though even with no traffic (read:no money!)
The page rank is definitely forged. There’s no other explanation for it. It uses a 301 redirect to point to d-atmosphere[dot]com/blog/
@lycos why forged i'm not trying to sell you the domain so why i want to forge it and i checked on here also http://www.iwebtool.com/pagerank_checker and many datacenter's report a pr3, for me it's the 301 redirect as an explanation. Besides as a total newbie How do you forge PR?
ahh i see you use something that checks pr http://checkpagerank.net but why does that say it's forged? because its not really the pr from the domain but from the domain it's redirected too?
Almost. It would take about 216 PR3's to get you to a PR6 (presumed factor of 6, multiplied by the three steps: 3->4, 4->5, 5->6).
lol see there is always a logical explanation! It is a nice suprise when something unexpected like that happens though
It is a very good surprise. Anyway congrats for getting that much high pr. I am working from 6 months onwards to increase the pr. But no update for me.
Checkpagerank.net doesn't really tell you if pr is forged or not. It preforms a simple check: it searches for the domain name in Google and if the first results isn't the domain name itself then it says pagerank is forged.
like kothar pointed out for sure it's because of the redirect but i didnt realize that redirected domains get the pr from the domain they redirected to, good to know if your buying domains for their pr value! and for sure it will lose the pr anyway in the next update! to try to prevent that im going to slap in now some links from my other sites and finger's crossed! but anyway like i said it's still amazing how pr brings a smile to the face even when it has no traffic associated with it
