Please help out.. PR is just based on links. PR is combined with a 100 or so other factors to rank a page. RIGHT or WRONG? There is a debate going on about this at Google webmaster help: http://groups.google.com/group/Google_Webmaster_Help-Indexing/browse_thread/thread/f032563177a624a5 with one poster claiming that posting the above interpretation would get one laughed at on a real seo forum
It always a discussion here. Ithink it just depend on person that would like to stick with it or not.
ive always been under the assumption that its just a visual indication which somehow represents the number of incoming links. i.e the more incoming links you have, the higher your pr etc.
PageRank is a numeric value which actually measures the importance of a webpage. According to Google, PageRank relies on the uniquely democratic nature of the web by using its vast link structure as an indicator of an individual page's value. PageRank is important as it is one of the factors that determine a page's ranking in Google's Search Results. Of course PR is not the only factor that Google uses to rank pages, but it is important.
I can't agree with you on this. I think its not the number of links --its the quality of links that gives you good PR. Anyway --there are people who believe in PR and there are people who believe PR is nothing but a joke. I am with the first group.
I think we will always be guessing on why pr get the pr they do. Back links are for sure not the answer to the world. Check out some of these pages I have, and their back links. http://www.bestwebimage.com/advertisers.php PR6 1 back link http://www.1stcapitolauction.com/ PR7 4 blinks
