I have requested and gotten a blog author to agree to put my link in an article on his blog. His pr on page 1 is a PR3. so good so far. Now he adds content 4-5 times a week. So what happens to the value of my backlink when it goes to page 2, 3, 4 ...........? I guess the same question applies here at DP? Does the pr drop off? Is it possible it goes up as it ages? Is there any value to archived link pages?
An aged link does count for more, but with blog archiving I would think it would also lose a bit of PR along the way. Once it is no longer linked from the homepage, the specific blog post would have lower PR. I would think an archived link would be worth much less than what it was while on the homepage. They should still hold a bit of value though. You still have a one way link from a quality domain.
A couple of things that will improve the value of the post with your link is if the post gets external links from other bloggers. Another is if the post author links to the post with your link from another post. The more of each, the better. The overall health of the blog (not talking PR) is if the blog keeps getting linked to, and the blog has steady posts. If the blog is pretty much dead from the get go, then your post will probably not be worth anything later down the road.
Eventually as the blog gets older and more popular the old links will get more pr juice so eventually even the archived posts will have pr
