While I don't bow to the PR gods and consider it only a small part of how any directory should be evaluated but with that said it is kinda nice to have some. My free general directory gained a 1 a week or so ago and my niche held fell back to a 2 but my paid directory which went live on April 1, 2010 moved up to 3. Most non-directory sites saw very little if any change but my Adsense is way, way up the last month.
the PR of my general and shopping directories remain them same, and my casino gambling directory is up to PR2 now.
I can't agree. If your site have lots of outbound, your PR will be reduced. Because you are passing PR + link juice to the OBL.
A page does not lose pr when linking out. It may pass less PR to the pages it links to, but it does not "lose' PR.
I am sure, it has hardly any importance..I have seen update and gain in on of my site while the another lost. But my traffic in the lost one is much more than the one I gained!!!So I am closing this PR book from my side!!!
I know a directory I use frequently http://www.ezilon.com has had a strong PR 5 or 6 for the last couple of years. It is a great resource to use!!
Your performance may vary. Results from marketing won't be seen by employing any one tactic but by employing as many tactics as you can in order to achieve long term results. Be sure to have analytic tracking installed to measure "your" performance. If you were thinking my performance would be an indicator of how you, or anyone would perform, well that is wrong thinking.
PageRank is the scoring of the links, pointing to a page. Any page will pass the value of it's PageRank - 1 to another page So a PageRank 4 page, will only export PR 3 to another page, and then the value exported is diluted by the amount of outbound links... ------------------------ To make it easier to understand, a PR 4 page will only lose its PR4, when it looses the links pointing to that it, from other equal to or higher PR pages...
I was suggesting that "use" of one's website by others would be a better metric of one's performance as opposed to Google's PageRank.
Ahhh I misunderstood.....all of the bankers I deal with refuse, to lend me credit based on being able to obtain PageRank...... Apparently they do like green but the green they like is known as United Stated Legal Currency......... PageRank means nothing to them for some odd reason..... Anymore its like you can't write a check based on having high PageRank.....the gall of some people.....
Well I am not sure about that, but I can somehow feel that my sites with less outbound links somehow has a stronger PR presence. Oh and anyway I got a PR4 for a free local directory of mine. Not really doing any work though, just a free local directory, I'll add the sites if they add a small button linking to my site in return. Gets some backlinks and traffic in return. Pretty simple really.
http://pr.efactory.de/e-pagerank-algorithm.shtml PR is the value of the links pointing to a page. ------------------------------------------------- It does not read PR is the value of the links pointing to a page minus the outbound links found on the page. Should you care to test this theory take any PR assigned page, add 10 outbound links and wait a few weeks, if your PR drops, well then by some miracle you are right. And if not, then those of us who have said OBL does not negate PR are right, as we always have been.
May be CReed is right but I'm saying from my site experience. Even it's been proven in last PR update
