PR update ... how has it affected your co-op sites?

just wondering if anyone has noticed big changes one way or the other with recent PR rumblings, and the relevance that the co-op has had on it.

i can't really tell, no major changes. except for 1 site, where i had squat for weight... i think all the outbounds zapped it from a PR 4 to a 2. not sure though.

    I had a PR4 and now a 5. My co-op weight went up from 3500 to 4500.

I admin to 20 different sites. I have observed the higher ranked sites I have (PR6) have dropped to 5 in one case 4.
However since the last update I have added 9,000 new webpages which are now ranked between 1-4. My new forums and blog with activity seemed to benefit the most. I created a blog 15 days ago now ranks PR3 :)

The weight on one of my coop sites is down significantly due to to PR drop. It seems strange to me to have PR factor so heavily in the weight when the updates are so random and sporatic.

Some of you care too much about PR and not enough about SERP positions and quality links versus a shit load of links.

Ask Compar, he will tell you that PR does not have much to do with SERP position.

I'm Anthony's authority for everything :D And I agree that PR isn't of any real value. However if it is a major factor in the coop scheme then it becomes important and I think that is a weakness in the coop scheme.

The above link claims that Google itself says that Page Rank is an entertainment device. Remember when I used to tell you guys this and you all spit in my face :p :)

So the co-op should be based on page impressions, if Google Adsense can tell how many impressions a page gets, why can't the co-op?

I think the very nature of P*R* (as we know it) is changing. Although my P*R* has declined on some pages it was improve on others. My traffic remains the same, AdSense revenue remains the same or a little higher. My SE positioning remains similar (in the first page in many KW's). I spend very little of my time trying to breakdown PR. I think we all agree quality BL's is what it's about, you just seem to need more of them which may not always result in a visible P*R*gain.

PS Hello Bob (Compar) your friend 'John'...'Business card printing'. I have been reading your info pool http://www.compar.com/infopool/. The one entitled 'Top Ten Reasons to Write Articles to Publicize your Business - Part 1' is good and accurate. I have recently been submitting articles and have seen an increase in BL's not just from the source but many other decently ranked sites...works good!

    Cheers

"if Google Adsense can tell how many impressions a page gets, why can't the co-op?"

Google has somewhere around 100,000 servers. Shawn only has 1 running the Co-op.

I'm going to guess that that is why Google can do things that Shawn's system can't.

It appears that Coop has helped my site more than I ever thought it would. In the short time I've been in the network, I've gone from page 50 or 60 in google to page #1. My PR jumped from 2 to 4 in yesterday's update.

weight has gone from 12k to over 40k since update. Should hit 60k within next couple of weeks.

thats with just 4120 pages indexed by google :) so tis doing good considering that isjust a pr jump and not a index jump / leap. (not much anyway).

Be interesting to see how things go over the next couple of months as I add another 4 or 5 sites to co-op.

ACA, You Eloquent Devil You! What flair & panache' you have! :p

I have wondered about this exact fact. Seems like it kinda defeats the co-op purpose though, doesn't it?

FWIW, I'm a relative "newb" compared to some stats I've read in this thread. My humble li'l site has around ~30 pages or so. I just recently converted all of them from .html pages to .asp pages so I lost some PR for awhile. But there were other various & sundry reasons for my conversion.

In the recent G Update, my home page PR just went from a lowly 3 to a "well a 4's better than a 3" PR of 4. Whoopie! Don't know if'n the co-op helped or not but I'll take it. My co-op weight (when it validates) went up from 650 to abut 825. Anything helps, I reckon.

I have two questions, though. Didn't see answers to 'em in the FAQ.

    1) Google still hasn't completely indexed all of my .asp pages yet and may or may not still have some (no longer existing) .html pages in it's que. It seems that occasionally when I manually validate my site, I have to do it a couple of times. How can this be overcome? Is the co-op penalizing me for these pages that have been taken off my site? I was just too lazy to add the co-op code to them and thought deleting them completely would suffice.

    2) How can I see some of my ads appearing on other folk's sites? Just think it would be a hoot to see 'em once or twice! ;)

Wishing Everyone a Safe, Happy & Prosperous 2005!

Well, Shawn may have a better way to do things down the road, you will just have to wait to see what happens.

If PR is the base for the co-op at this time all we can do is work within that, but since Google is not updating PR or considers it entertainment there may be a better way to do things in the future.
